I never made it to Leopolds. I made it to the Taj Mahals shore bar and had a good chat with the guests, then paying a rather large bill for Vodkas and beers

Leopolds was my favorite hangout last time i visited Bombay. This time not so much.

I wasted too much time in Bombay, by hanging out only in Coloba. I believe Bombay has so much more to offer

The best thing about Leopold's were the illustrations on the wall. I absolutely loved them. My mate and I spent 15 minutes looking at it trying to guess all the nationalities on the wall. It was hilarious to see the two Aussie figures trying to pick up girls from a table, while wearing cork akubra hats. Our waiter was excellent and one of the friendliest people. Told us a fare bit about the restaurant. We only went there for one lunch during our 11 day stay there this year, as there were so many places to see. I really don't prefer drinking around Leopold's, Mondegars, and Sports bar as they seem to be very packed! Too packed for my liking. I'd go back though!

Happened to be in Leopolds last week and was reading a fairly thin book. The waiter came up to me and asked very eager: "Are you reading Shantaram?" :-)

nice place for a break

I liked Leopold's - I was doing an adventurous eating thing in Bombay and sometimes it got a bit much - all those places with fierce looking men (and only men) chowing down in 5 minutes flat (on really good food I must say) so Leopold's was a nice break.

At least in Leopold's you can relax for a few minutes with an iced tea...and yes, the Gregory David Roberts was there too as an added attraction.

Someone, somewhere back posted on the kebabs - that is Bade Miya, starts around 6 pm (if you want them really fresh, also be prepared for confusion if you only speak English but please persist because it is worth it), on the same street is Baghdadi - v v excellent and cheap but all men (except for me when I was there).

Check out Delhi Dorbor too, v v nice and I was not the only sole woman when I was there - also have one of those pani puri things too (or have a lot of them)- right on Colaba Causeway - v v fun.

Leopolds now has a website which I came across only this week. It seems to be a work in progress but is quite entertaining.

Check out the menus with, perhaps, current prices at

www.leopoldcafe.com

The upstairs bar is dark, has loud music and more privacy than downstairs, in the sense that you have abit more spae for yourself. You can get booz, but the menu is otherwise the same.

I prefer downstairs.

@sanna
Try bicep curls with Shantaram in one hand and Maximum City in the other!

The food at Leopolds is the worst i have had anwhere in India.
The same applies to my wife. A complete crapper of a eatery
Not a bad place far a jar though.
