cheers....
Hey sumant,

Yeah I'm not a huge shopping fan and no party addict either...
I love things that are completely muft ^^ like walking, breathing, reading, etc
Only exception is food. Expensive or not I'm willing to pay the price if it's good But I guess, in India food budget won't be a problem...

Do remember that Mumbai is surrounded by Sea and it gets quite humid so if you want to wear boots then better do it in the night/evening as you would find it comfortable at that point and one more thing that don't pack a lot as you will have a lot stuff to take back from here so you might want to have some space already while coming here....Hope this helps!

Ab!
Hello Abhi

I already packed all my bags and shoes (20 kilos lol, unfortunately i'm serious)...
Which shoes should be good except for boots?
I just need a room to myself with a good bed cupboard desk and that's it. The flat needs to be clean (sea view would be awesome but oh well, I can live without...). I'm not asking too much I think???

Hello French Girl,

Well in my defense, I don't know your name so i have to address you by that name...Lolz..Wouldn't be nice to call you by name? Yeah, i can assure you that you might find yourself packing a little more as the days will pass by because you are a girl

Ok, you would definitely need a pair of Flip flop and it would be a good idea to pack a pair of Sandals as it would give you the liberty to walk around while it would be pouring down here...Well I don't know about the sea view but if you have won the Jackpot or won the contest of "Who wants to be a Millionaire" then a sea view room can be arranged for sure ...I am sure that you can easily get Clean house with a comfortable bed along with spacious cupboard to accommodate your 20 Kilos....If i may ask then what are you going to study in Mumbai?

Ab!!

Bombay is India's most 'cosmopolitan' city, so you'll find most luxuries there that you'd find in Paris or London, and often at half the price. Rent is (relatively) expensive, but things like food, public transport (even taxis are relatively affordable) and general products or services are much cheaper. I spent a year in India without visiting Bombay, and after visiting there, I honestly wondered what all the fuss was about. It's a pretty agreeable place to live, much cleaner than the north and outside of Colaba, virtually hassle/tout free. Bored Ac'ha hai

Enjoy =)

I am inclined to agree with Sumant. If you have eaten spicy food earlier and like it then you would love it here for sure and it won't cost you much unless you are planning to eat in 5 star hotels...Delhi is known for its food and if you are a foodie then its a must visit for you but beware that Delhi is rolling in heat these days...

It is going to be perfectly okay.

Try and getting a flat in :4 bungalows: (area around andheri) if you can because that's the BEST place to live in Andheri (and one of the best even in Bombay)

I personally think that the story about rains are a bit over hyped. Yes there are sometimes days when you are stuck but it happens hardly for 2-3 days in whole monsoon season.
I love my city http://Ajmer101.blogspot.com

THanks a lot for your help!!!
Bonjour Frenchie,

Welcome to Mumbai!
To start with, please be very careful with the water especially in rainy season. You might never know where the source of the water you are drinking. Insist on a branded (Bisleri, Aquafina - PepsiCo, Kinley - Coca Cola) bottle everytime you need a drink. Have hot and fresh food, no cut-fruits. Travel safe and enjoy the monsoon.

Regards,
Kaushik

Hey frenchie69,
Get all the stuff you fancy. It seems you are getting a wee bit more stressed than you should. Just get the here. The first two weeks you'll kick yourself for coming here. The next two weeks you'll settle down a bit. And two months later, you'll realize .... You've come home!!!! Take the chill pill and come soon :-)

Everybody! sorry for not giving news earlier!

Had an awesome time in India. Didn't feel the cultural "choc" at all.
Am I weird? I mean, I was waiting for my senses to be raped like so many travellers used to but it just didn't happen. Got no delhi belly and I ate outside a lot (everyday) !! yum yum !
I'm back in france to take care of a few things and then back to india.
As far as clothes are concerned, I didn't regret bringing my stuff; being 5.8 ft tall and kinda overweight I felt like Gulliver in India.

All in all it was a magnifique first experience in India and I'm reaaaaaaalllly excited to go back !
