Kamathipura, red-light district

Was previously looking for an address in Mumbai and found out it is located in Kamathipura, apparently also known as the red-light district of the city. Have been trying to find out more about the area, however none of results.

Could anyone enlighten me of this area? Should I stay out of it?

Well, there are those that have called it "the worst place on Earth", so it's more a question of do you want to go there. I wouldn't recommend you go there alone, especially at night and/or if you're a woman, as it can be dangerous.

All that said, it's a big district and some areas are worse than others. What is the place you're going to? If it's a hotel, I probably wouldn't stay there. If it's a shop or something, you could have a taxi drive you by during the day and see how it looks. Just be prepared to see some miserable things on the way...
