How well do you know Mumbai

When in Mumbai two years ago we came across a wide street near the university. There were hundreds of stalls selling clothing among other things.
We were able to find soccer jerseys at some of the stalls and also salwars.

Does anyone know this street/market?

That is Fashion Street for you!!! Not very good if you want clothes to last a long time, though they are good for a few times before you finally throw them away. When they are so cheap you don't really mind doing that either. The stitching on the clothes leaves much to be desired although the designs may look good and trendy. You have to bargain to get a good deal or else they will rip you off!!! Start with prices that are less than half of what they start with and end with about fifty percent of what they ask for the items you intend to buy and never show a great interest in any item you really want to buy or else they will never reduce the prices. It is not too close to the University but opposite the Bombay Gymkhana on the stretch where the Goa buses depart from. Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Aadil.

Not entirely true. In 2004, I bought some Adidas shirts that I have worn dozens of times during workouts. They've taken a lot of abuse in the gym and more than a few spins in the washer and dryer.

However, I remember buying a belt. The kids wanted 8 bucks but we eventually agreed to about 2.50. I thought I got a deal but as soon as we exchanged goods and went our own ways, I heard them laugh and squeel with animated delight. I couldn't figure out why but 2 days later, the belt started to peel apart and after the third day, it was for the rubbish bin. I guess it was made out of soybeans or something.

Oh what I meant is that it is not of very good quality as compared to the designs and fashion statements they make, so not really ready to throw away after a couple of uses but still lesser than what one would use better branded clothes. They would definitely last you a long time especially if you plan on using them during your trip here on an everyday wear and wash basis too. The shoes and belts are a bit dicey if you ask me and I would not recommend buying them here.

Cheers,
Aadil.

I had bought a belt just like the one you bought 5 years ago and it looked like a pretty good bargin. But then a little water fell on the belt and it disintegrated. Later I found the inside of the best was made of cardboard pulp and fevicol heheh. I am happy I got to exeprience that con. Just made me a little more wiser

Cheers
