Hotels near Mumbai Airport

Please recommend a clean and safe budget hotel close to the Mumbai domestic airport for a short overnight stay. Preferably somewhere that provides shuttle service to/from airport. Budget is ~$50 or less.

Thanks.

Welcome newbie!

We usually stay att "Shangri-la". It´s a cheap hotel in Vile Parle, It´s extremely close to one of the airport, not 100% sure which one though, but anyway, it shouldn´t be too long to any one of them.

The hotel only costs about Rs 500 / night, it doesn´t provide a shuttle, but it´s easy to find a riksha or taxi that will take you. The standard is very simple, but the staff is nice, it´s safe (I stayed there with kids at least 4 times), it´s close to the airport, it´s in a nice middle class area with lots of food and stores, and - most of all - it´s dirt cheap with Bombay measurements!

You can find contact information for the hotel in Lonely planet, if you don´t find it, you can pm me, and I´ll look it up!

Good luck!

I also stayed at the Shangri-La when I was last there 3 1/2 years ago. Paid 750 for room with t.v., air, and hot water. There's a great restaurant down the main street around the corner of the hotel called, Hotel Bharat restaurant and bar. The food was excellent. Eat in the downstairs airconditioned part if you go. Normal prices also.As you leave the hotel turn right to the main street, take a left on the main street away from the airport and walk maybe 3 blocks and the restaurant is on the left side on the corner. I also like the neighborhood around there. It's very bustling. The Hari Krisna Temple is a nice walk from there. Not a bad place to visit. Bought some good incense there.

There is the Highway Residency at about one km from the international as well as the domestic airport for about Rs900 non a/c to Rs1200 for an a/c room with attached bath, TV, phone, etc. They have a free pick up but not dropping facility from the airport so just take a taxi or rickshaw when going back!!! Heard about the Shangrila too, never checked it out though. Should be OK if the LP says so!!!

Cheers,
Aadil.

I stayed at the Shangri La at the beginning of December, after reading the recommendations on this post.I would only recommend it if you're on a low budget. The price (850 for a fairly grotty room and 650 for an even grottier one) is good for Mumbai and the location close to the Domestic airport but the rooms are pretty dirty and I definately wouldn't recommend it if it's your first night in India (as it was ours). It was good as a standard for all our other rooms though - we could always say `well at least it's not as bad as that one in MumbaiŽ!

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Ramakrishna in March for 1 night. Rate was Rs 2500/night for double. It was a good place, very close to the domestic airport and they provided a shuttle since we had to catch a flight to Goa.

Room was clean with working facilities. Staff was helpful in getting us to the airport.

Hey sandy,

all the hotels you named are about 25 kms away from airport. Suggest get down at the domestic airport and come ou, you will find a whole lot of these hotel representatives hovering around. Check out this hotel Shangrila..it is just about 2 kms from the airport. Also get a listing from justdial.com

The Highway Residency is a nice cheap place near both the International and Domestic terminals and it also has a free pick up (but not dropping) facility. The rooms range from around Rs1000 to Rs2000 approximately. I've had a lot of my friends stay there so I know it is a nice place. Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Aadil.

Oh..here it is http://travel.vsnl.com/hotelhighwayresidency/
