I stay at the Ashwin or the Silver Inn in Andheri, both near the airport, for about 1,200 rupees.
You can book these and other places at the hotel bookings desk at the airport--you choose hotels by location and price, they make the arrangement for you, there's usually free transport, etc. |

Accomodation near Mumbai airport
In need of some decent accomodation near Mumbai airport - moderately comfortable but not expensive. Would generally stay at Bentleys or Shelleys, but want to simplify and stay close to airport for this one night. Suggestions please

I've stayed at the Hotel Silver Inn and the Ashwin, both in Andheri, right near the airport. Three stars, aircon, clean, about 1,200 rs. per night. You can book them via the hotel bookings desk at the airport.

I echo what Merchant wrote. The hotel booking desk is impossible to miss as you walk out of the arrivals area. It's on the right, just before you go outdoors, where the thronging crowd and humid smog awaits. The people working the desk act as if they've been told they'll lose their jobs if they don't make EVERY effort to get your attention as you walk by. Even a corpse in casket would probably notice them and wake up.

The bookings desk is your best friend. You choose a hotel based on location and price from their list (the two I mentioned are on it, so you can ask for them specifically). They call and make your reservation and arrange your transportation. A guy will peer inside from the window behind the attendants to eyeball you so he can meet you when you exit the airport (get a look at him, too, so you know you're with the right guy). He puts you into the mini-van and off you go. No scams, no hassles. The booking service is free. You pay the driver the nominal amount to Andheri.

Try the Hotel Silver Inn or the Ashwin, both in Andheri (near airport) and across the street from each other. Three stars, 1,200 rupees per night last time I was there (2003), air con, private bath. You can book them through the Hotel Bookings Desk at the airport as well.

I stayed in the Hotel Shangri La by the airport in 2003. Paid 700 rupees for a decent room with a.c , cable t.v. and hot shower. They also have cheaper room's. Also down the steet is a better place called I think the International. They were 1000 rupees a night but were full when i went there. Both these places were in the Lonely Planet. If you stay at 1 of these places, there is an excellent restaurant down the main street called Hotel Bharat restaurant and bar (tel.: 2617 9738). They have great food. Go downstairs to the a.c. part.It has a large clientele of people that work at the airport!

same question.
definitely interested in the answer to this question. We've got a layover in Mumbai. 15:00 arrival, departure 7:00 next day, so we want to stay very close to the airports. according to rough guide or lonely planet this place is close, but it's not cheap. can't find any good true budget options to book in advance, but, if there are, seems like the people on this forum would know... good luck!
Hotel Bawa International (70 euros per night) not cheap! Nehru Road Ext. Near Domestic Airport Mumbai (Bombay) 400 099 |

I usually stay at the Hotel Silver Inn or the Ashwin, across the street from each other in Andheri, a few minutes' drive from the airport. 1,200 rupees (as of 2003) for a single with aircon and attached bath, TV, restaurant. Perfectly serviceable lower middle Indian hotels. You can book them through the Hotel Bookings Desk at the airport.
