near airport

i stayed overnight at the arma residency, hunkering down waiting for an early morning flight as mumbai burned. it is very close to the airport, has free airport pick up, and they will grab an auto rickshaw for you when you check out. which is important, because you probably don't want to be spending a lot of time on the street there. the room was windowless but clean, with cable tv (no commercial free channels or anything like that - even the hbo there has commercials) and clean ensuite. there is a restaurant there, and what i got was fine. as i recall the price was about $40 per night, a bargain by mumbai standards. very convenient for a layover. good staff - i stayed there 2 weeks before and left a bunch of souvenirs for safe keeping which were all there when i returned. recommended if you need a place close to the airports and you are on a budget. hotelarma.com the arma group has other hotels, too, which i can not speak to.

Yes they'll pick u up anytime...I musta stayed there about 10 times already..and they've always been there to pick us up...I am sure there are other hotels, but we just keep staying there as we got to know them there and feel comfortable there....even though it is a budget hotel...

Hi guys! Had a quick flick through this thread but can't quite find the info I'm looking for. I'll be flying into Mumbai in March en route to Jaipur to spend a couple of months working for an NGO there. I have about 24 hours in Mumbai and am looking for a hotel to crash in - I'm female and will be travelling alone, so looking for somewhere with airport transfers. Budget isn't too much of an issue, I'd rather pay more for somewhere I'll feel comfortable as I'm guessing the combination of culture shock and jet lag isn't going to be pretty! any suggestions?

Try the Hotel Highway Residency for a place near both the airport terminals and the prices are also reasonable. They have a free pickup facility but will charge you for dropping you to the airport but you can easily take a rickshaw or taxi from the hotel for about Rs30 or 50 respectively. Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Aadil.

You could ask the hotel you stay in if they will allow you to do so. Normally they may do so if you show them what you have in the bags and pay them something for the service.

Cheers,
Aadil.

We'll probably book at Hotel Highway Residency, based on the many recommendations here Our flight lands at 0155, so we will definitely need accommodation sorted for that first night.

I've got a question about rates though- which I guess would apply to any accommodation. Are the internet rates approximately the same as if we wandered in off the street? (Not that we want to do that at 2am!) I got a bit confused because some of the websites offered rooms from $x and then once I checked more closely, the cheapest rooms were almost double that price, so I wondered if there was a price hike for internet bookings. Is $27US about what you'd expect to pay for a double room in a budget hotel in Mumbai? (That is the amount one website quoted for Highway Residency).
