Whinger: Well, I did tell you about it being a nice place for the price but it is not so expensive so it is fine for the price and the restaurants it has are two of the best in the area. One is called Howrah and serves very good Bengali food (especially the local Bengali fresh water fish) and the other one is called Zaffran (Saffron). It is a place where I have had a few friends staying for a few days and they found the place pretty good for the price as well as for the service. It may not be a very good hotel according to hotel standards as it has many small dinghy rooms for the very cheap and basic standard rooms which are very small cubicles but the other double rooms are pretty decent and large too. To sum it up it is a place where you get value for money.

Cheers,
Aadil.

Hi
I also tried to book via e.mail direct to the hotel, it also came back fully booked.

However as a lot of Hotel's allocate rooms to agents, i contacted www.Travelmadeeasy.in and they we able to book me a room at the residency fort. This particular agent also has a live chat line and will e.mail you the hotel voucher. It really is easy

But sometimes you will find the price for the room a bit higher than the price at the hotel. Sometimes it is worth it sometimes it is not!!!

Mrs Whinger has managed to sort it out.

Whilst I wasn't in the mood for paying the daft prices for a dump, mrs. Whinger has paid what she thinks is a fair price for a reaonable hotel.

Thanks for all your help.

Its a good thread though, with some useful contributions.

Whinger,

How about sharing your decision with us. Which hotel did you decide on and what rate?

Ahhh... er sorry..

Yeh, we got in at the Chateau Windsor.. Reasonable quality for Mumbai and should keep Mrs Whinger happy...

We're only there for two nights then off down to Patnampule. It was just Mumbai I wanted to get right, everywhere else should be pretty easy, well it has been in the past.

Its our first visit to the city and I can't wait. Only 6 wekks to go..

The Chateau Windsor Hotel is on the fourth floor of a residential building and is not really a hotel in that sense as it is one floor of flats converted into a few rooms which are not always well reviewed. I have heard of bad experiences from some travellers on another travel website. Hope your experience will be good.

Cheers,
Aadil.
