You can try the Salvation Army's Red Shield Hostel at Mereweather Road, Colaba. They charge Rs150 per day for a dormitory style accomodation with vegetarian breakfast included in the price. You may also try sharing a room with some of your batch mates at the hotel. Some of the previous guys would have some sort of accomodation sorted out which you could also use. You could get a paying guest accomodation but you have to pay a lot more initially as a deposit and your stay has to be for at least 11 months.
Hope this helps. Cheers, Aadil.
