Sweet story Sagarneel. Monkeys are in fact a real menace at Elephanta. It is quite difficult for visitors to eat anything there outdoors, without a monkey coming to snatch the food item.

Do start a Delhi heritage page, that is one city that really has some exquisite structures.

Here is Aarosh' Elephanta elephant standing guard outside the Bhau Daji Lad Museum in the Bombay Zoo campus. Along with a beautiful Amherstia Nobilis tree on the other side of the Elephanta elephant. Incidentally this rare tree is in bloom now - for those who are interested.

>>>> Really ancient heritage structures of mumbai - kanheri caves site
It cannot get more ancient and more heritage than this: The Kanheri Caves Buddhist site at Mumbai dating from the period 3BC to 11AD.

That's quite a lot of lovely pictures of one of my favourite cave sites in India. The eleven headed avalokiteshwara statue is nice too.

And this link for the St. Thomas' Cathedral at Fort:

Aadil.

Post some of your heritage Mumbai pics in this thread Aadil, since Aarosh has taken the trouble to create it.

Here are some pics of the heritage wooden Victorian conservatory at Byculla - Rani Bagh. It houses a decent fernery and is kept under lock and key. Let us hope they do not destroy it in the name of "renovation" !!! BMC is capable of anything, as we know.

Surely other IM'ers have some heritage Bombay photos?

Sorry aaroash, for finding this beautiful thread soo late. Mumbai is a city which is very very close to my heart. And I have been to all these places multiple times- however re-living Mumbai through your photography is something very exceptional. I always wonder how good photographer you are(Along with biman, snonymous and many other).

Nice to read the story of Sagarneel. I also have a memorable story on Elephenta. My first visit to Elephenta was on 2007 , when we went with many of my friends. One of my friend get introduced with a gal there and as of today they are happiliy married since last 2 years. So the heritage has also serve to set up atleast one new relationship.

It spent more of its time as a single screen theater than playing Opera, but good thing that it has been brought under endangered architectural buildings.
