You will find small groceries shops or big shops (Reliance Fresh at Haji Ali opposite the Heera Panna shopping center is very close to the Malabar Hill area) selling most of what you generally need in almost all parts of the city so you need not worry about these small things. Fresh fruits are available at most shops on the roadside as well. Do not forget to bargain when buying from roadside vendors. When they see a foreigner who does not know the local prices they hike them up quite a lot!!! Always best to take along an Indian who knows how to bargain and also knows the prices so you won't be ripped off.

Cheers,
Aadil.

reliance fresh is good for fruits and beggies, I bought my packed food(indian veggies and nans) the last time from big bazaar at phoenix mills. Big bazaar has a lot of variety of other packed food too.

Can't remember the name of it but there's a decent-sized grocery store when you exit the side door near the front of Churchgate station (heading towards Marine Drive).

I thought it was Sarvoday. It is a nice little shop with almost everything under one roof.

Cheers,
Aadil.

CFPG: You are on a budget, and yet Malabar Hill & Fort aint exactly inexpensive /budget places to live. It's like living in UES in Manhattan or Battery Park City

It's something like that anyway. I can picture the sign in my mind, I just can't quite make out the letters!

There is a Reliance Fresh also at Warden Rd [Bhulabhai Desai Rd] next door to a Nature's Basket. Big Bazaar is at Bombay Central in the Orchid Mall which is much better stocked and has better prices than Reliance Fresh. Ive also seen a Reliance Fresh in Chira Bazaar on Girgaum Rd [JSS Rd] close to Princess St.

The Fort market and Colaba markets will also be reasonably priced for fresh fruits / veggies / meat & fish. Sassoon Dock fish market at Colaba is well known for fresh seafood at good prices, I havent been inside myself, but I know a lot of people who buy from there when they need larger quantities.

I agree with Aadil about bargaining!
