Looking for a good tailor in Mumbai, for suits and shirts.

I have ordered a custom shirt from Raymonds in Oberoi Mall, as a trial but I'm sure there must be far better (and cheaper) local tailors that do a great job?

Any recommendations?

If you say which area you live in, it will be easier.
Reliance Tailors - 22075068 12noon to 7pm exc. Sun, on JSS rd just off Princess Street - city area - does an excellent job on mens suits, trousers, shirts at a very reasonable price.

Likewise there will be several good tailors in every locality which our members will recommend if you name the area.

Vincent Tailors opposite the St. Vincent de Paul Church near Khar Danda is pretty good with gents trousers.

Bandra will be full of reasonably priced good gents tailors, Im sure some of our members will get back to you on this.

How about in Andheri (and surrounding area)? I'd appreciate any leads on a good professional-quality tailor.

Cheers.

out of curiousity, rougly how much would your average suit cost from a place like this?
and how long does it take to be tailored after you've been measured up?

This depends greatly on the quality of cloth - superfine wools for example can be very expensive. For the tailoring component I would guess 1500-2000 rupees.

Insist on 2 fittings.

Tailor good at copying

Anyone found a tailor good at copying existing clothes or designing from pictures of clothes? Interested in getting some shirts and casual wear done. I'm based in Bandra.

danyavad!

As Brisso said, about 1500 to 2500 tailoring charges. Fabric costs of course depend on what kind of material you choose. The lining fabric too should be chosen carefully. Joe Goes at Reliance will do it extra quick if the customer requires it in a hurry.

Saganaki,
Most tailors in Mumbai will copy quite well from a sample. From a picture, it depends.

Hi,

I will be visiting L&T in Mumba and will be staying about 2 km north of the airport. Can anyone recommend a good tailor in that area? Sorry but I don't know enough about the city to describe it in more detail.

Rs.1500-2000??! I paid Rs.6000 for a fairly basic two-piece suit at Kings behind the Taj Hotel. They made it in 5 hours mind you! Is that ridiculously, morbidly expensive?

I also visited the Raymond in Bandra- they seem very reliable and produce a nice cut, although when I enquired their suits were all £100+.

I don't recall anyone saying a suit could be had for 1500 -2000.

Many smaller but good, experienced tailors who do not have fancy establishments, do them in that range but that would be tailoring charges only. There is one near my office in Bombay [Reliance tailors - Joe Goes]. Today with the price rise, I would estimate 2500 tailoring charges only, at the lowest.

Kochins in Bandra, near Mocha Mojo on Hill Rd - is quite good.

Expect to pay between 10k and 15k for full suite - trousers + shirt + jacket.

I got one and I'm quite happy
