Good place to watch CL Final in Bombay?
I am a massive Liverpool fan who wants to watch the Champions League Final on 26 May in Istanbul during my stay in Bombay. Can anyone recommend a place with atmosphere near Colaba. I hate to ask-but possibly an Irish bar (the are so ubiquitous) if they exist in India. Football and Guinness-oooh the thought!
Thanks |

The name escapes me but there's a big bar just down the road from Leopold's on Colaba Causeway that'll almost certainly be showing it - they've got loads of TV's and always show the sport. It's on the same side of the road as Leopold's (it's just a few buildings away) but is nearer Victoria station. I'm racking my brains trying to remember it's name but my memory of bar names is always a little fuzzy, for some reason.
![]() Depends if it clashes with any cricket, though - if it does you'll be lucky to see the match at all! COME ON YOU REDS !!!

The name is "The Sports Bar", obviously!
If this is the one you mean: The Sports Bar in Colaba I watched a few footie matches here. The beer is expensive (taxes added, beware!) and the atmosphere is a bit too "clinical" and clean for my taste. It's half restaurant so it doesn't get that sweaty, heated football fanatic atmosphere if that's what you're looking for. If you belt out "You'll never walk alone" the couple enjoying their red wine and prawn sandwiches might ask the staff to remove you... hey, kind of like Old Trafford, right? Not that I'm a yob or anything. |

How on Earth do they expect people to remember the place with an obscure name like that ?!
![]() Atmosphere's a bit different for the India-Pakistan cricket. It was pretty riotous when I was in there. A good laugh. I enjoyed it and I don't even like cricket. |

Hmmmm, hadn't thought about the time difference.
Cyberhippie's right, I think. Make sure you've got a room with cable TV. Which'll be pricey in Bombay, I'm afraid |

Nah the Carlton 350rps a night (single) with Cable TV.
It's in the Colaba area I think (I'm not too familiar with Bombai!) a small price to pay too see the reds lift their 5th the European cup ![]() PSV showed us the way AC Milan are not invincible!! Last edited by cyberhippie : May 26th, 2005 at 21:03. |

Wish I'd known about the Carlton when I was staying there. That's a bargain for Mumbai.
