yup they are originally from Nagpur but their major outlets are in Delhi.

Skinny, Skinny , Skinny........going to right place and choosing the wrong stuff....thats the problem...if u wanted to have paneer makhani and channa masala then i think u wud have done better to goto some mughlai or north indian restaurent ........but to order them in a gujrati speciality restaurent ....this is not done....

read my review on Soam , posted earlier and see the dishes i recommended ......they are wholely and solely of Gujarat....

I wouldnt goto Soam for some north indian fare..yes, their decor is wierdly minimalistic but it goes well and the crockery in which they serve is very ethnic and i love eating with them.

Give Soam another shot with the dishes that i recommended not the usual north indian fare....its like asking for mexican tortilla in a Udupi restaurent

Well on Sat was at Out of the Blue, bandra... nice joint preety dimly lighted... they had a person for drawin your portrait outside in the non-a/c area... Foodwise the foundue are g8t... sizzlers well i suggest opting for Kobes or Yokos or Cafe Royal as compared to this. The pastas were nice... Deserts were great !!!

Exp wise... abt 700 odd per person with drinks

Well yes Chetana is living on past glory.......
the thali's served here are nothing special and not worth the money u pay for them now but ........the chaat that i had here on several occasions is quite nice and considering the requirements of FromUSAwithlove.....i think it was a apt choice

I went to Soam, opposite Babulnath Temple
Another of those eateries which serve authentic and unique gujarati & rajasthani fare ( very much modelled on the lines of famous Swati Snacks in Tardeo, though both have totally different dishes)

Few things that must be had here:

Kand ka cheela - pancakes made of shredded onion, coconut and yam served with green chutney and youghurt.

Kanda batata sambhariya with biscuit bhakri - gravy with small patatoes, pearl onions, coconut and herbs served with very crisp bhakris

fada ni khichdi - wheat gravel based porridge with lots of vegetables in it served with papad and youghurt.

Vatana pattice- vermacilli rolls with stuffing of green pea and mint.

Dal dhokli - Dhokla (steamed pancake of rice and pulse batter), soaked in dal.

Cheese spinach samosa - samosa filled with cheese and spinach

Surati Dal with rice - a very different kind of dal ( must say had an amazing taste ) with plain rice.

Each one of them especially kand ka cheela & kanda batata sambhariya were excellent.

Drinks were dissapointing, wont suggest anything to drink here.

Desserts were quite nice:

Kesariya jalebi - crunchy, hot, garnished with almonds and pistachio ..yummmm...if not better than that if Swati then is as good as that of Swati

Aamras - best in the town, that i have tasted yet....pure 100% alphanso

Fresh hand churned Mulberry icecream - superb.

In all it was a nice experience, and best thing was the traditional bronze thalis and utensils in which they served....same as the ones used in traditional Gujarati and Rajasthani homes.

If one makes a comparision of Soam with Swati then Soam still has to go a long way to catch up but still is a nice place.

does this ring some bell.....

i believe this what one ought to have in Soam , only then one can appreciate the food availible here.
no moong dal khichdi or Missal .....goto Aswaad for Missal
