Heading back to Bombay next year and have read about the fabulous Muslim food available on Mohammed Ali Rd after dark during Ramadan. I'm pretty sure that I saw it on TV on Anthony Bourdain's show too.
Does anybody know this area well and is this food available there during the rest of the year? What is the best way to get there from Colaba? Cheers, |

The food stalls are there only during the Ramadan period but there are a few restaurants that are there which serve basically the same fare all the time. Try Shalimar Restaurant and Noor Mohamadi Restaurant on Mohammed Ali Road. Then there is the Valjibhai's Bara Handi shop in Bohari Mohalla which is something totally different from any place you might see in Mumbai. Hope this helps.
Cheers, Aadil.

And for something sweet, try the different types of Aflatoon, firni and malpuas at Suleiman Usman Mithaiwalla next to the mosque at Mohammed Ali Road. Simply irresistible stuff which you will always ask for more!!!
Cheers, Aadil. |

The best way to get there from Colaba would be by taxi. It is not too far from there so it should not be more than about Rs40-50 in a regular black and yellow taxi. Do not use the JJ Flyover after you pass CST station but go via Crawford Market. Hope this helps.
Cheers, Aadil. |
