I think, that now I have narrowed it down as much as fairly possible. Now I will search the maps in detail to try and spot the place. If I am not lucky, I will try to finally settle the spot, when I will visit Mumbai in February.
Thanks guys..... Well, that was the orphenage of my daughter. I have a son as well... ......he has lived in another orphenage, which I would like to spot as well. So is comebody ready for yet another challenge? It has this address: 102 Shishu Bhawan Velentine Complex Off. Gen. Arun Kumar Vaidya Marg Pimplipada, Malad (E) Mumbai - 400097 I think, that this is a more informative address - isn´t it? Could anyone help med spotting it on a map? I feel confident, that it is within this area -> http://wikimapia.org/#lat=19.187732&...14&l=0&m=a&v=2 - and I have strong feeling, that it can narrowed down to this more specific area: http://wikimapia.org/#lat=19.176504&...16&l=0&m=a&v=2. Thanks |

Easy as pie. Search for both 'Valentine' and 'Velentine', u'll find plenty of those together. The orphanage must be in one of those buildings or close by.
U did pretty good with your 2nd link - for convenience always click on 'View' and select 'Hybrid' espesh for the big cities, makes it very easy then with the major roads shown. Then u'll see Gen. Vaidya Marg and above it Pathanwadi Road. Just to the right of this are those white buildings - mousing over will show up a few valentines and Pimpripada. Zoom in and u'll get more valentines/velentines. The orphanage is not marked though. |

You´re right, Dilliwalla - searching that area reveals the Velentine buildings.
I think, that I can locate the spot. Thanks a lot for the hints. |

a related question about Shejar Chhaya
I am adopting a little girl from Shejar Chhaya. I hope to meet her in mid-March. What is a nice, western hotel in the area? I don't need 5 star, but want something comfortable.
Thanks for your help. On another note, my other daughter was adopted from Bal Asha Trust in the Mahalaxmi area of central Mumbai. The orphanage is on E. Moses Road not too far from the race track... Lori |

Hi lorifrances,
Wellcome to the forum... I just joined few days ago myself - you will be amazed with the kind of knowledge of India you will find here.I have in Mumbai twice before. The first time we lived at Hotel The Resort. http://www.theresortmumbai.com/ http://www.wikimapia.org/#lat=19.173...17&l=0&m=a&v=2 I admit, that it is not in the immediate neighbourhood of Shejar Chhaya, but we found it to have a great situation. And once you have left the orphenage with your daughter, I guess, that you would prefer to stay in a fairly quiet place. Well, anyway, that´s what we did..... The quality of the hotel is quite good (at least in 2000, when we were there), but the price is lower than other hotels of good quality. You can find the rates on the homepage. We will live there again for some days in February, when we will visit Shejar Chhaya. |
