Hi,
Regular ferry service is available from Gateway and Bhau-cha-dhakka for Mandwa, except the monsoon months. You can find all the related info on this site http://www.onesmartclick.com/alibag/alibag-travel.html Hope it helps Anindya

Thank you so much anindya911. I was thinking of spending the week end break 26th., 27th. Jan at Alibaug & return to mumbai on 28th. & then fly back to Delhi. Do I need to book accomodation in advance? In case you have any other suggestions for similar places I would love to hear them.

The weekend of 26th is long one and you can expect more than usual crowd in every tourist gateway, including Alibaug.
It would a good idea to book your accomodation in advance. There are hoards of Hotels, Resorts (some of them are only two room bungalows )and homestays available. Try a bit of google-ing for more info. Along the same coast Nagaon, Akshi or Murud-Janjira could be other options. |

Does the ferry from Mumbai to Alibag run in September? Is that considered a monsoon month? The links given above don't give specific months... and searching various sites gives a variety of non-running dates ranging from June through to mid-August and all the way up to October.

Mostly the Ferry service resumes during the end of August, however it is dependant on severity of the Monsoon and sea conditions.
One can enquire on the phone nos given in the website. Cheers |

Depends on the weather and how stormy the seas are at that time. Better to check on the phone for the latest sailing status.
Cheers, Aadil.
