The Salvation Army's Red Shield Hostel just behind the Taj Mahal Hotel at Colaba is just Rs150 per person for a dormitory bed with breakfast included in the price of the bed. This is the cheapest you can get in Mumbai but it may not suit everyone and some may find it not too clean for their taste. There are other options nearby too but many of them are rip offs and charge a lot more than what they are actually worth. There is the YWCA International Center at Colaba just opposite the Museum which is usually full but is one of the best places to stay though it may be a bit expensive at Rs1750 for an airconditioned double room with attached bath. Hope you find this useful.

Cheers,
Aadil.

mumbai hostels

Heej Aadil, thanx for the info!!

And KellyB we booked a hostel not that far from the Airport for the day we arrive and the day we're leaving India.. it's called hotel Pearl and cost 'bout 10euros a day (not that expensive for Mumbai) and this hotel has good reviews. We're not that long in Mumbai 'cause we're going down south (GOA) and for the one day left we're gonna book a hostel in Mumbai centrum near the trainstation.... maybe you can use this information?? And have a great time in India!!! Did you allready found a good hostel in the center of Mumbai?? Let me know if you found a nice place!?

Greetz,
