Hi, in October we arrive at India. The last days, we stay in Mumbay and I would like to buy some posters of Indians movies. Do you know any place who find Bollywood posters ?
Thank you very much !. |

I have heard that there is a Yash/Rai (production company for many great BW movies) store somewere in both Mumbai and Delhi. Where they exactly are I do not know.
I am very sure though that you can go to any movie theater and they will either give you Bollywood posters for free or for a very small charge. I would say ask for them for free. You will be able to get posters and lobby cards of whatever movie the theater is presently showing. If you are looking for specific posters, say from DDLJ or old classic films that is another matter. There is actually a collectors market for vintage posters and those are mainly on the private market and they go for collector prices.

lamington road
I bought a big stack of bollywood posters from a guy on Lamington Road in that part of town where all the electronics dealers are located. He's there all the time, as far as I can tell. It's just a table set up on the sidewalk on the east side of the street, between Grant Road and SVP (Sandhurst) Road. Dirt cheap.

Original Bollywood posters now command hefty prices - go to the site www.cafedreams.com and you may be amazed at the prices they command. In Chor Bazaar in Mumbai there are shops which sell these much cheaper - often they are not originals but if that doesn't matter to you you can find a decent selection. Studios are no longer giving these away free especially for blockbuster or older movies.

Couldn't you just ask nicely at the cinemas? Or am I being very naive?

For good quality ones go to a store like Arche’s or Landmark or the likes. The may cost about (Rs 100-200). You can get the cheap ones (Rs10-40) at street side sellers.
Sorry I’m not a Bollywood geek. Recently Aish & Bachan (?) released a big photo album like book on Bollywood. Does any one know what is the name of this book? All I know is that it may be a bit expensive ![]() |
