Bringing a Dog to Mumbai
I have been in Pune for a few months now - and in 2 weeks time am bringing the family + the dog.
The dog is travelling cargo (but costs as much as a regular ticket, thanks El Al )Has anyone been through the experience of bringing a dog in through customs at Mumbai ? Should I be worried ? Thanks, Dan |

Presumably your dog (and the family for the matter) are coming in from overseas? Hence the reason the dog is going through customs? At the bottom of this page you'll find a few related threads on bringing animals into India. Oh - and welcome to IM.

Hello Dan,
welcome to IM ! How long do you think you will stay in India? It might make the difference. I have two cats back here in France and decided to leave them here for the full year while I went to work in India. I found a friend and neighbour who basically house sat for me for the whole year. a perfect solution. The house was taken care of but most importantly, the cats didn't have to move. Ok, so i missed them terribly, and i'm sure they misse dme hehe but they were in their home, their garden etc. Now i'm back home and it's perfect. They snubbed me for half an hour then came begging for tickles!!!I hate to think how they would have suffered in the 45° summer heat. I barely survived! Although I am going to do the inverse. My kitty Mowgli who survived a 6floor fall in India is coming to live in France. I don't think the cold weather will upset him too much, he'll always be able to find a warm corner to curl up in. |

Hi,
thanks for the links - the part I am immediately worried about, to be honest - is the entry into India. We are coming in from Israel, and although we will have all the necessary paperwork, I am wondering if the legendary Indian customs.. can be counted upon to waive us through or to keep us there for half a day figuring out what to do or how much to charge... |

The Indian customs is not so legendary any more.
Most people, because they fall within the limits of what they are allowed to import, walk through the green channel.
