You can just book with a travel agent organising these trips and they will do the bookings for you or you can do it yourself on the phone too. Neeta Travels is a reputed company with regular trips so it should be a nice one day tour though it is a bit rushed and you do not get to see everything the way it needs to be seen but you do get a general overview of things to see in the city in one day!!! Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Aadil.

Thumbs up My Experience

Hey Folks I was planning for a day long Mumbai darshan trip with my family, so I googled the same, I happen to see this fabulous discussion forum. I have a become a member and will be regular at the relevant forums.
It was a nice trip, however I would like you to know few things
- The cost of 130/150/400 is only the transportation cost, you have to pay Rs. 250 extra for other tickets.
- The brochure is misleading not all the points are covered, most of the places that it talks about will be shown from the bus. I don’t think one can actually get a proper glimpse of the images.
- They stop for lunch at tarapore fish aquarium canteen, the food is horrible and the place is not at all hygienic( I would strongly recommend to take your own packaged food and drinking water)

- They ask for 130 or 150 Rs. if they provide you with the seat number they will ask for Rs. 20 and they say it will be 2X2 seats, take the cheaper one as the buses are normally 2X2 only.

Neeta is definitely a reputed travel agency, however I would still recommend if possible book your own vehicle and see things at your own ease, you have a choice to skip some of the things and you can spend more time in the place you like.

Au Revoir

Mumbai Darshan

I will visit mumbai for a day. Will reach mumbai domestic airport at the morning (around 9:00 AM) and leave mumbai at 20:30PM from CST. Want to visit popular places and landmarks during this day time. Is there any tour operators operating from the Airport? If not, How can I make the trip ? Please suggest.

Some private buses start from Gateway and take you to all major tourist places of Mumbai. But if you land at 9 AM, I don't think you can catch those buses....

I think you'll have to hire a taxi.

To Summarize...

I know this is a couple of years too late but better late than never!

A word of CAUTION to all those opting for Mumbai Darshan by bus operators.

1) Opt for this only and only if you're skint. If you can afford to spend a little more try other options. (Menioned Below)

2) The buses are run down, cramped, manned by people who really dont know or dont give a S*&T, and will charge you extras for almost everything.

3) Google Mumbai or try wikitravel.

4) Make your own agenda, hire an ac taxi and spend a couple of days looking around in leisure.

5) Avoid going from North Bombay to South between (9am - 11am) and South to North between (5:30 pm to 9pm). Be where you chose before these times or get ready to get stuck in hellish traffic.

6) If you're in Mumbai only for a day, stick close to the place where youre staying or will be journeying from and try to see places close by.

Oh... unrelated but ... bargain HARD for everything!

Thumbs up To Summerise

Hi All,

I will recomend to take a city tour bus to take a glimpse of the city. and on the next day you can revisit the places of your choice.

The City tour buses are only for travel, they will charge you extra for all entry tickets etc where ever applicable. when you are taking a city tour bus, it moves from south to north, so trafic wont be a big issue.

On the next day you can take local train or BEST bus to feel the City, BEST bus ha whole day travel ticket at very cheaper rate.
City tour buses will charge you Rs 150/400(non A/C orA/C). Hiring a Cab will give you luxery but parking will be a big issue.

Best Shooping Destinations:

Malls are everywhere.
Bandra Linking road
Mohammod Ali Market
Fashion Street(near Churchgate)
Colaba Market
Malad Market
Dadar Market
Dadar Silk Emporium(For Saree and dress Material)

You need to bargain at footpath markets. Start bargaining when you are sure that you are going to buy the goods, else you will be in trouble (you can leave if the price doesnt suit later on).

Wish you a very happy staying in Mumbai

Regards

Bidhu Bhusan Samantaray
