Bollywood

Me and my boyfriend are visiting India in March 2007 and we also gonna stop in Mumbai for a little while..

We would like to participate in a Bollywood movie, does anyone have contact information for an foreign actor administrator.

Thanks.

You can always try going to the nightclubs of the actors or directors and try to talk your way into a movie.

As I know - there are lots of agents in Colaba area (esp at 'Gateway to India') who can help you - they're looking for foreign tourists :-) If you would like to, I can ask one of my friends who took part in bolly-movie shooting last year - she still keeps in touch with her agent - and give you some info how to contact him. By the way - my friend told me about that experience - it was really funny

Look for those directors or producers or agents who specialise in 'crossover' movies. Else you would land with "that foreign guy in the back ground" kind of extra roles!

Crossover movies are not good either...they promise a lot but land as a dud each time...nevertheless, the roles will be more dignified.

Wichy is quite right!
From various accounts I've come across, many foreigners on the streets of Mumbai are approached by agents to participate in a Bollywood shoot. They are paid something like Rs 500 and meals, plus the experience of being on the sets for a whole day!

You spend nearly all day waiting around for a 2 minute shot!
Not much fun at all - I didnt recongise the main fella in the movie and he wasnt inpressed!
But ya go to the gateway of India - you will get picket up (so to speek) there.

If you like and know Bollywood movies I think you'd have fun getting onto the sets of one. If you look non-Indian, it's likely a movie will need you for background for some kind of public-place scene - a restaurant where the story characters are supposed to be in another country, for example.

If you don't find what you need through suggestions here, you might try the forums at Bollywhat.com. Do a search for the posts by "Bombay Gora," a British man who is at present living in Bombay, working in movies, and writing about it - he has info about how to do it.
