OK, one last update, Star News says a few gunshots still can be heard but the intensity has gone down and in the heritage wing the reporter said 60-70% might be with NSG.

Can't tear myself off the TV screen yet. But got up for a while to drink water and realized that all the news is revolving around what the DG NSG JK Dutta said a few hours ago. As he is reported to be inside Taj, there would be no major update till he comes out. Hope he and everyone else would come out soon and all of you out there, stay safe. My thoughts and wishes re once again with everyone at Mumbai and particularly the security forces.

My heart goes out to all the people in Mumbai,I feel so sad and hope this finishes soon. The president of the community of Madrid
Esperanza Aguire was in the Taj checking in with her group when they heard shots. They hid behind the recpt desk and were then helped and lead by hotel staff to the kitchen,She lost her shoes in the panic and had to go barefoot treading blood to saftey. They are all back in Spain now.
Thankyou all the police for doing such a good job, and please let it be over soon.Bless the people of Mumbai.

ESPECIALLY after the Gateway was bombed in 2003 . . . So how did speedboats unload several squads of commandos and their weaps unnoticed?

1. they were bought off
2. they did NOT land there.

I was just watching CNN and that had an inspiring interview with a guy who escaped one of the hotels....

he said pick up the phone right now and book a flight to Mumbai -- he said the terrorists are not going to win and the Indian people and Mumbai need our support, so GO TO INDIA!

that was also my question pages ago, bij....MSNBC said the Indian navy had intelligence TWO WEEKS AGO to EXPECT an infiltration like this because they were notified that a ship was hijacked in the Arabian sea.

also, some of these guys were already working at the hotel and at places that have been attacked, very similar to america's 9/11.

AND, CNN reporting that counter-terrorism people know that this was not a local group because of the planning (i.e., guys already in the sites that were attacked) and because it was Mumbai that was attacked, Mumbai being the financial capital of India, just like New York City (9/11) is the financial capital of the US.

I'd have to look it up but you can do so yourselves at Google News et al., in any case I saw reports last night that this boat that was allegedly chased by the navy was checked out and cleared as having nothing to do with anything. Of course the navy still and according to other reports maintained that yes but and we have our sights on them and whatever.

I saw new reports today possibly concerning other boats (of course, one might add...) but didn't really delve into it.

As should be clear by and throughout this entire thread alone, I wouldn't take anything much you're hearing at present at face value. That's not even to hint at sinister conspiracy or disinformation stuff, it just comes naturally with any event like this. How's the average desk journalist or editor (including MSNBC and CNN and the whole shebang, and don't they need to fill up valuable airtime, now that time progresses and live footage wears slim) to know much more at this stage than you and I may already have heard elsewhere, and all equally conflicting and confusing as it indeed is. That's not even to dismiss all journalism off-hand and I'm sure most of them are very sincere in their jobs and just do the best they can or believe in, I just don't think anyone has the truth right now, and there's a lot of parroting and white noise flying about. Again, it sort of comes with the field.

With 51 pages to this thread already, I'm afraid I haven't read the whole thing. But a few of my thoughts.

I am still shocked, as everyone is, about this episode, but I think more so because the terrorists were seeking out US and British nationals. I was planning to travel to Mumbai a few days ago and would have stayed at the Taj or the Oberoi, at least for the first few days. The only thing that kept me from going was that I procrastinated so long in finalizing the plans that the cost for the airline tickets would have been too high. This was one time that procrastinating may have literally saved my life.
