Interview with some americans - Bruce and Betty - who were in a hotel room. In good spirits... said they had air and light in the room.

They are still going to continue their trip around India

they were in NY during 9/11.

They saw a lot of gore and blood on the way out. I think they were in the new wing of the Taj. They heard commandos were in the building. had heard no sounds for 24 hows. Heard tiny noise.. looked through peephole and saw

opened door and were taken out. Saw all the chaos and awful stuff and feel very thankful

01:18 PM: The railway authorities on Friday denied that there was any new incident of firing at the Chatrapathi Shivaji railway terminus in Mumbai. "There was no firing at Chatrapathi Shivaji Terminus. The reports of firing at CST are nothing but rumours," Commissioner (Railway Safety) A K Sharma told reporters. Sources said a metal detector fell at the entrance with a huge thud causing the panic.

01:04 PM: Fourth and fifth floors of Nariman House cleared, military sources said, adding that one terrorist may be holed up on the third floor.

01:00 PM: Terrorist attacks show Al-Qaeda [Images] links, IB sources said, adding, that the links would not just stretch up to pak, but will go beyond

12:57 PM: Reinforcements brought to Taj Hotel. Terrorists were aware of Taj layout, say Marine Commandos. The terrorists had AK series rifle. What made MARCOS' progress difficult was the presence of many guests. Plastic explosives and 8 credit cards were recovered from the terrorists' possession. All recovered items have been handed over to the police. The marines have recovered 30 bodies from one of the halls of the hotel. Close to 200 guests were held hostage in one of the halls. A Mauritius national ID card recovered from one terrorist's bag. Currency worth $1,200 was recovered from terrorists.

12:55 PM: Trident Hotel is 'totally clear' and the Oberoi section is 'almost clear', says Vilasrao Deshmukh.

A batch of 20 commandos have stormed Nariman House. These are fresh commandos, probably relieving the previous batch.

It's 40 hours since this started, surely the terrorists can not hold on for too much longer.

As yet the tv channels are still open. They are saying it would be a VERY big and bad thing for that to happen... as far as democracy goes... free press and all that. Will keep you updated (or not.. as the case may be!)

Have not heard any news of a terrorist shot.. as yet... they are still working on the Oberoi...

No news of that... I have to say I haven't heard planes.. but I imagine it would have been BIG news if they were stopped.

Just in,

The Army chief has announced that 2 terrorists have been shot and killed in Trident hotel.

He went on to say that there is no more a hostage situation in Oberoi/Trident hotel.

The hotel is now under Army and Police control.

This is excellent news if true.

Maybe the phonelines etc are being cut off because the terrorists are also getting too much information through them.

They said the police decided to do that to stop people from spreading rumours and panicking. When a panic happens here it can be .. well.. disaster.
