Most of the channels are running out of things to say now... it's all getting into interviews and discussions..

all boils down to them waiting for something to happen.

I'm wondering about the people stuck in hotel rooms.. presumably they have no food... and no water right? I mean if they are firangs they can't drink the tap water. Must be getting pretty desperate at this point. I hope they have stocked fridges maybe...

Four sub-ships have also been captured.

It seems this is linked to Pakistan involvement, although details are sketchy and will probably only be released after the events are over.

In my opinion, with the Indian prime ministers comments, war may possibly be an option here.

Seriously this is not good. Stay safe India.

wow... the discussions are getting very hissy spitty about the government and their lack of ability to deal with this kind of thing. One guy said 'imagine if this had happened under Indira Gandhi, and we don't like her for many things.. but imagine what she would have done.. and now compare it to this government' ... boy oh boy!

I've seen no indication so far that's what the assailants are after either, or it is of course possible we're not being told about it. My guess is they just wanted to prolong this for as long as they can = gain the longer and more spectacular attention (attention to what, precisely, even may never become clear, these outfits rarely come out with any clear statements let alone coherent programs, apart from some ill-conceived international jihad mumbo-jumbo. Well, I guess if anything the attention is supposed to be to the fact that "they're there," for whatever that may be worth.) I wouldn't expect any of them to have counted on walking away alive from this, or gain anything materially, not even by means of prisoner exchange or anything.

But then who knows indeed, or what we're being told, indeed. It's just impossible to say at this stage I'd say.

Sad to see this happen to India.

I've never been to Mumbai, but my wife has. She visited the Taj just because the building looked so great.

First there was the airport siege in Bangkok - no dead there, so it's really not comparable - and now this in Mumbai.
Two of the countries which had been doing so well in the past few years are getting trouble at the time they can least afford too - during an economic crisis.

Seems like this was a search and destroy mission for the UK - US tourists and well off aswell as jewish and anyone at the the station , saw a picture it was horrific. I see this was a marine assault on a capitol city its crazy. I will still go to india in a week or so even if the crickets is cancelled. Very typical jihadist objectives here. It was mentioned by deccan herald even by those who claimed responsability for previous blasts were watching even threatening to attack mumbai openly scince september. Seems that security wasnt inplace for sea attack and significant target protection, like armed gaurds at stations ports and hotels. The well off street with the jewish house, how come they had no armed gaurd? Perhaps they were overwhelmed? I know there is gun control in india so securuty gaurds would be un-armed i guess? Shame that such a peacfull country by nature has been targetted like this.

another fairly large explosion at the Oberoi.

You have to wonder... soon it will be 24 hours since it started. These young guys have to start flagging soon.. even adrenalin can't keep you going for that long can it? I know they have the upper hand.. but they have to start feeling fatigue and making mistakes. Hopefully they can bring in some fresh troops... who are not tired.. and that would give an advantage to India?
