Well... I am hoping that too. They are calling in the army now... force of 200 commandos. That is just to Taj and Oberoi though... but I really would think a lot of police will be at the Marriott and every time I have been there a lot of security is there at all times... right at the big gates outside... I think that has better security than the Taj or Oberoi does normally anyway.

5 police have died so far.

I'm happy to hear that the army is being called in. As for the police officers who have died, that is awful. Makes me sick to think about officers dying trying to protect other people. They were just doing their jobs. Their families are in my thoughts.

This is crazy .... is the news accurate that they are looking for people with American and British passports?

It seems when they took over the Taj and the Oberoi, the terrorists went around taking American nationals as hostages.

Hi Alifay.... yes, in the Taj the gunmen were roaming around asking for people with British and American passports. I saw an interview with a guy from London who confirmed that. It appears they may have some people hostage... but I don't know too much to confirm that

I just heard this myself on CNN. ATS chief Karkare shot dead, as well as another DIG and another "encounter specialist" Vijay Saluskar have all been killed.
