Sad, really, for the poor families of the gunmen to have that legacy hung on their family tree forever.

Post Memorial for L.A.'s Sister City Mumbai -Hollywood today

To anyone in Los Angeles today- there is a memorial today at 3P for Victims of Mumbai attacks. Mumbai is L.A.'s sister city and we send our deepest sympathy.
Hollywood City Hall on Fountain Avenue,
All are invited.
The city reps will march in Hollywood Xmas Parade today as well.

In a society where re-marriage is a taboo, it is a double whammy to see a new widow. It is hard to raise kid(s) with two parents; it must be almost impossible with one.

Lorelei -

Thanks for posting this information about the event in LA.
Does anyone know of any such memorial events happening in NYC? I've had my ear to the ground, but I think with the long holiday weekend it's been hard since so many people are out of town.

Latest news I've seen:

In light of the recent events it is confirmed that the Home minister Shivraj Patil has resigned

Our hearts go out to the people of Mumbai and to all whom had one way or another been affected by these horrible events. We have you all in our prayers.

I apologize for the delay in expressing my condolences and sympathy, we were away in a family vacation (Thanksgiving celebration here in the USA) and just found out about this horrible news last night.

I confess that I am very worried about our upcoming trip to India in three weeks...

Ah, thank you! I've been mailing the IM admins to ask what the criteria are but I've had no response. There seems to be no information about this in the FAQs and I was wondering what the problem is.

The admin may be rather busy.

It may not be in the FAQ's to keep it a little hush-hush, you'll understand to advertize it a lot would sort of defeat the purpose.

I understand. I was considering PMing individual mods but that would be a last resort and would probably not make me the most popular guy around...

Heheh. They'll accept it if you're not clearly ff'ing round with it though.

Anyway, we're distracting from this thread. Better leave it for what it is I guess.

(So what do I know? Well, I helped modding here for a bit. Was far less tolerant than the present bunch, so consider yourselves lucky that I stopped )

Just a gentle reminder that this is a thread for news updates (such as The Wanderers) and general messages of condolence, not political debate. There's a thread in Masala Chai and Chat for the pundits amongst us.

OK this is definitely inexorably going down the politics route and away from the updates route. Thread closed, pleased see Masala Chai and Chat thread for more. The last few posts here, which were largely political in nature, have been moved to that thread.
