Wow! I just spent the last (who knows how many) hours reading through the last 99 pages on this thread. Thanks so much to everyone for the updates!!! I was stranded with only CNN and a dying blackberry and no other updates since Wednesday afternoon, so this was much needed. Now watching the memorial ceremonies for unnikrishnan, karkare and Gajendra Singh on IBN and NDTV.

I just read 2 different papers and in several articles Hyderabad was mentioned in reference to the Mumbai attacks (all denying any relationship). Did there used to be or still is terrorist cells here? I also read that Scotland yard and the FBI are sending people to help in the investigations.
My heart goes out to all those who were personally affected by this horrible mess. I am so glad this is over and hopefully no one else will be hurt. Peregrine |

OK, thanks, much. It struck me as I wrote it there's no reason why anything would have happened to him later, or not related to this in any case; but his absence had just struck me.
Let's assume he's just busy yes. He was referring to someone they know being possibly afflicted, so let's hope that worked out alright. |

So horribly sad....
Thank you all for your updates on what has been happening. I got the call from my mom when I was at work that "The Taj Mahal has been bombed!!" of course after hopping online, I realized it was the HOTEL, not the Taj. That only barely made it better.
I went to all of those places as many of us did and now I am just heartbroken. I'm so sad for the people...for the country...and the city I love. I'm GLAD I got pix like this beforehand http://www.facebook.com/photos.php?i...id=55037 6015I have worked until today (12 hour shifts) so the only real lifeline I had during this horrible ordeal to get info was here on IndiaMike. (my husband won't let me watch CNN at home cause it upset me and I couldn't sleep) My mom is now on the warpath as me and my husband long to go back and I'm sorry mom, but those jerks aren't going to win. We'll be back next year as planned!! Thanks again for your heart, diligence and kindness at keeping us all informed through this awful time!

My uncle & aunt were supposed to visit Mumbai in December... & had booked everything months ealier & were supposed to stay at the Oberoi.. Well my aunt called yesterday exclaiming,"Im not coming now!! ... Though your "crazy" uncle still plans to visit!" .... Im proud of my Uncle! :-D

I am really sad about all happened and I think there aren't enough words to explain how human nature can be so bad.
Things finally got at its end and sadly many people died but many more could because of unexploded bombs in the Taj. We'll going to travel In India anyway, and we will stop for 1 day in Mumbai..

NY Times - Photographer's Journal
We can't stop thinking about India and returning here to read more.
I confess, however, I haven't read every entry. If this has already been cited, please forgive me. I know there are loads of photos of the unfolding events on the web. I was impressed and moved by the photos in this section of the NY Times: http://www.nytimes.com/ Click on the link below the photos: Photographer’s Journal The photographer Michael Rubenstein gives his eyewitness account of the attacks. distaff half of hfot2 |

Thanks HFot (and good to see you around
), I think you're thinking of this page right? http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2...ai/index.html# (audio slide show).Scrolling around there I came across this site btw, could be of interest to some: SAJA, South Asian Journalists Association: http://www.sajaforum.org/. Live feeds, reporting, commentary and stuff. |
