At Home Wife, What Can She Do While I'm At work.

I work in Navi Mumbai at an IT company and I am considering bringing my fiancé over to live in India with me. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on what she might be able to do during the day to keep herself occupied while I am at work. Does anyone have any recommendations?

either find her own job or become a Memsahib, ordering servants around all day . . . .

Working part time with NGO's can be interesting as well as quite rewarding (not monetarily though).....

She can join some part time classes on hobbies like pottery, sewing, cooking, software, fashion.. and so on..

Hi matt,
I think it depends on her interest, hobby etc. without any info, I don’t think, you’ll be able to get some specific recommendations.

She can always take up photography. Photograph landscapes, people, buildings, etc. When I take days off to photograph, time really flies and at the end of the day, she can show and tell you where she went and what she took pictures of.

Am from Navi Mumbai , and can tell you there isnt much NGO's work out here in Navi Mumbai, but she can go to Govandi/Mankhurd area (15min from Vashi) where there are some NGO's working for Destitute children.

Navi Mumbai is very much a Family people's area with not much entertainment etc.

Somebody recommended Daycare for expat kids (its a good idea) but dont know much expats are working/staying in Navi Mumbai area (i think very few families are).
Maybe .. get her addicted to Indiamike, and give her a daytime job of planning weekend getaways for the 2 of you, chalking out itineraries, booking hotels etc. etc..... lots of getaways from New Bombay for weekends ....... Lonavla/Khandala, Mahabaleshwar, Matheran, Murud-Zanjira, Ganpatipule, Srivardhan/Harihareshwar etc.

or ... you'll have to consider shifting to town and commuting everyday by car.

But then you need to decide what to wear, try them all out and then finding out there is nothing to wear and plan on how to introduce the topic !!!

wife or fiancee....your title says wife but your writeup says fiancee....which one is it?...wife has to stay and be busy till you get back back i suppose but fiancee will probably run back and become the ex if you bring her to new bombay not that the former doesnt have that choice as well.

new bombay doesnt have much other than being closer to natural places like someone mentioned above. and if she is at home..then there might be power cuts...that this 'city of the 21st century' that we call is famous for...

she can work out at the talwalkars gym in sector 17 ~ pretty decent and they do do monthly memberships. there are yoga classes in sector 10 at yoga vidya niketan which are really cheap and they have womens only classes early morning and evening...if she wants to learn keyboard, guitar or indian cooking..there are many classes for that..

center one mall is okay but gets boring after couple of visits ~ the multiplexes arent coming anytime soon!...if she is interested in charity work..there is quite a few~ vishnu bhave auditorium right in front of the bus depot has a bunch of happenings in the evening but they are in marathi a lot

see if you have anything in Seawoods~ a bit far but a lot of NRI's live there~ you might also want to check out NIFT (national institue of fashion technology) in Khargar to see if there are any short term courses she would like~

power cuts are there for 2 & 1/2 hours per day .. but back-ups take care of them in most houses/buildings
