'Airport' hotel with good restaurants and metro station
Hello
I've give up on the '24' hour hotel idea, and after talking to my fiance we're now looking for a hotel within 30 minutes taxi ride to the International airport.
The hotel needs to have great rooms in the Rs8000 to Rs15000 range, a swimming pool, gym and good views, looking at 2-3 days in this hotel before a 06:00 flight.
I'm not a fan of '5 star' hotel food, so not looking for a place with breakfast included, instead, looking for a place with some good, reasonably priced restaurants within walking distance, maybe some shopping options, and a local station for trains into south Mumbai (if needed).
I've looked at loads of places on Trip Adviser and the Westin Mumbai seems ideal, I read in one review that the Oberio shopping complex is close by, and has good shopping and restaurant options, is this true? (happy to pay up to Rs2000 per person per meal (without wine) if the restaurant is worth it)
Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks.

Near Juhu beach there are quite a few hotels which suit you requirement. Shopping options in Santacruz and Vile Parle which are a short auto ride away. Similarly for local trains the above 2 are the closest stations.
Kedar Janani Devasthan, Mt Abu - Udaipur, Bharatpur, Agra, Gwalior, Orchha, Jhansi

why??? did the avion hotel with 24 hrs checkout not serve the purpose?http://www.avionhotel.com/avion-hotel/rooms.htm
JWMarriott in Juhu has Mahesh Lunch home nearby. It is a 5star hotel though. It has decent restaurants.
Courtyard by Marriott is also near the airport.
Grand Maratha near the airport too, has very fine cuisine in house.
Lalit Intercontinental also in the same area has two fairly decent restaurants.
Le Meriden opposite Grand Maratha has good wine collection. You will have to compromise on the local trains as Vile Parle and Andheri Station are far, but given the autorickshaws one can reach within 50-65 Rs max.
(disclosure: I have elite status, so I do get an off-rack rate and discounts) There is Hyatt & Hilton (I have not stayed in the BOM properties so I would not want to comment.)
Between Maratha and JWM you cannot go wrong food wise. AS long as you stick to indian cuisine. If you want good Steak - JWM is my choice.
Slightly below is Holiday Inn Express (which I kind of want to avoid as its too new and has to iron out many kinks)
There is a meta search engine for hotels out of AUS, www.hotelscombined.com which does a decent job of getting you a good idea what each booking sites are offering. There is a new site in India, a rather work-in-progress www.via.com (I have not used it) which seems rather interesting.
Hope this gets you started.
