Advice on Mumbai accommodation?

I'm staying in Mumbai for a few nights at the beginning of November and am planning to attend satsang with Ramesh Balsekar for the mornings that I'm there and would like to choose from the following places to stay (or other places that are nearby):

1. The Girgaum
Girgaum Kotachi wadi, Majestic Bldg.,
Girgaum

2. The Gemini
Bldg. No. 19, Khetwadi, 12th Lane,
Laxmi Niwas, Opp. Super Cinema,
Grant Road

3. Kemps Corner Hotel
131, A. K. Marg, Next to Shalimar Hotel

This is my first time in India so I would love to hear from anyone who has stayed in any of these places? Or other hotels near to these?

Kemps Corner is the closest. Mr Balsekar lives on Gamadia road, just off Breach Candy.

I think there is another hotel on Nepean Sea Road called Regency which is also fairly close.

Krishna Palace Residency is at Grant Road.

Never been inside any of these hotels, nor the one's you mentioned so cant help you there.

Thanks for your reply. I'm leaning towards Kemps corner hotel as it sounds like it's in a good position.

It would be about 15min brisk walk, or Rs 15 by ordinary taxi or a minimum bus fare [any bus to Warden Rd, get off at Gamadia Rd junction], not more than 7min at that time of the morning when the buses will be empty.

You could also ask Mr Balsekar if there are any "paying guest" i.e. home stays in the vicinity. With the constant stream of daily visitors from far and near, there are bound to be some catering to his visitors. This may be cheaper than a hotel, as this is an expensive area of Bombay.

That's really helpful. Great news that it's walking distance as I'm keen to explore on foot as much as possible. I think I'll book Kemps corner for the night I arrive as I'm getting into the airport after dark and explore options for the other few nights once I arrive and have had a look around.

My yoga teacher spent some time with him and recommended that I visit him while I'm in Mumbai. He's an advaita master who was a student of Nisargadatta Maharaj. Satsang, as I understand it, is an opportunity to sit in the company of a wise or enlightened person and ask questions if you wish. More info here: http://www.rameshbalsekar.com/about.asp

The satsangs are held every morning in his apartment from 9-10.30am and people can just show up. On his website he says that "no one is invited, but everyone is welcome". I don't have any particular questions, I plan to just sit. I'm feeling that thinking isn't going to help me find out what I want to know.

yoga

The yoga classes are very good.I have been there long back and if we practise regularly we will be at peace and see life differently. Its best not to travel too much during the yoga classes.
