accommodation in Mumbai
Hay Guys planning to go to Mumbai in the next few days.
And now I am wondering is it really necessary to book a room in advance or can I also find a room there?? I had been to other major cities like Chennai, Kolkata and Bangalore and it had always been easy to find a room without advanced booking. But I also heard that Mumbai is different. And maybe somebody knows a good place to stay I am looking for something really cheap around 100 to 250 rs?? I am glad for every advice Thanks Lukas |

Hi, and welcome to IndiaMike. Sorry for this standardized response, but the question comes up a lot:
Mumbai isn't easy on accommodation and it's relatively expensive -- relative to the rest of India, that is, not necessarily to where you live. Flying in there, try to have a room booked for at least the first couple of nights; if you don't like what you get, at least you have a bed and you can look on once you're there. It can probably be done on the fly, but this may involve a lot of looking around, not very nice just on arrival, and you may have to settle for something way below or above your standards for the first few nights. Arriving very early helps, but it won't guarantee anything as such. Have you checked the site's Hotel Listings? The cheapest and a very popular place in town, hence often full, is the Salvation Army Red Shield Guest House: http://www1.salvationarmy.org/ind/ww...5?openDocument It was recently reported here they may take reservations for their rooms, not for their dorms. I don't think your budget will cut it for Mumbai, you'll just have to accept rooms are more expensive there. If this is a real problem, plan on spending as little time in town as possible.
