Lightbulb update on the im mumbai meet on 24th dec

hi,

i know the first so called mumbai im meet has started albiet on a low note.. but dont worry guys... i will work on it to make it a success.. the imp part is that it has started.. i have to really thank aadil who kept his word..and man he has some awesome cds full of snaps of ajanta ellora caves shot in complete darkness with his hand held long exposure films... they are a collectors delight.. u guys missed something..we did watch them till 10.30 pm..while having noodles and fresh lime

I am intiating to compile a data base of contact nos of all members in mumbai before we meet again..

if youll are comfortable with the idea.. just sms

imbom_name_area_tel no ....to 9820814092

or just pm the above data to me

if everything goes as per plan the next meet i will plan by the pool side at cuffe parade at the end of first week of jan ... dig that

I believe life is how u view it whether the glass is half empty or half full... whether only two guys met up is not important but that the im mumbai atleast kicked off is... and we should take it on from there

embarrassed, disappointed, vexed, pity, heck heck heck!!!

these are the feelings i got when i was still in pune at 7:30PM saturday. helll with it! a very tight plan had a little wave of change and i had to do away with one or the other thing. had gone for some personal work which as per my earlier plan was to get over by 1:00PM and i was to leave for Mumbai right then. but things kept me there and finally i reached mumbai at 0000 hrs. sat night. n i was way too disappointed that i cud not make it to the meet up even when i really wanted to.

anyways... kuch paane ke liye kuch khona padtaa hai......ees baar apna meet up second "kuch" tha but next time it will be the first "kuch" for sure.

and i am really really happy for aadil n anil for starting with it. i always say "start is important"...things will follow.

but nevertheless, yea, i had a wonderful experience at Daman on sunday n monday. sunday night was soo peaceful in my sleeping bag at Jampore beach in my tent . Smirnoff tasted heaven there. skating from the church to the jampore beach was also fun..... but yes those bloody dogs almost took a piece out of my butt! survived the dogs and the bikes then. but it was fun...nice roads and ambience

and then also enjoyed Red Wine and Brandy at my portuguese friend's family wedding. the Catholic weddings are so grand!! first witness.... drinks, songs, dance...wow!! totally impressed and enjoyed!!

n congratulations aadil n anil!!

lets head up for the next meet then!! now let me not give a word here...am quite (in)famous for being late/ditching among my friends .
i will directly land there...... Unalarmed

hope my fellow IMers had a nice Christmas Party!

cheers,
Amyl

let bygones be bygones lets plan for the future

ok... there have been people who did not sight the last meet or they could have joined in.. its ok as we evolve we learn.. the greatest marketing tool to reach out the message...HIGH VISIBILTY...we can ensure that by having a fortnight or a week ahead posting in the place of the goa beach meet after it is done or in the news section.
The other aspect is identifing our target members... contacting them..this is a bit tricky as many out here choose to be as anonymous as possible as i have sent out detailed mails specifing people to send in their contact by just an sms

imbom_name_area_tel no ....to 9820814092

or send an email this in text format or pm the same.

so far

aadil
aditi
marmik
alpha icon

have sent their data in by either phone,pm or sms.

I would appreciate if senior members also involve themselves in this process by sending in their data and encouraging others to do it if they want to they could take over this process ....bcos without telephonic contact the co ordination is not perfect...

The third thing to provide three options on date, place and time to enable everyone in this process.like we could give options like meeting in a pub, poolside, potluck dinner or one day trip to some excavation site like the kaneri caves or the beaches like kihim which are just one hour from bombay or some lovely green trekkers trail which other members lke avid trekker could choose.

so with a consensus we could zero in on the next meeting place, time and date.

so guys i hope to hear from youll asap

We were the only guys out there with a laptop in operation (seeing the pictures off the CD's and the waiters and the manager giving us dirty looks and lots of indications and asking us indirectly as well as verbally to leave as they were falling short of tables for the other waiting guests!!! There from 7 to 11 p.m. HAHAHA!!! Sorry you missed seeing us.

Aadil.

Lots of one day trails around Kanheri in National Park.

Some around Tungaareshwar.

My favourite for beginners is the Peth-Kothaligad trek around Karjat. Can be done in a single day... but is immense fun if done over the weekend. After a gentle four hour climb [experienced trekkers do it in two and a half hours] there is a nice warm cave with temple to stay on top. And the local village just 30 mins downhill which sells freshly made maavaa [milk heated until solidification] all year round.

The other favourite is Jivdhan, [Kalyan- Murbaad] can be done over two days only. Its a proper climb with a huge cave on top... and I have taken beginners to this mountain.

There are many more... many more.... but then this is not a trekking club Forum

Dirty Looks at Leopolds

Aadil.
I didn't want to say it then.... so as not to spoil your party... but Leopolds are quite openly racist. They do NOT encourage Indians unless accompanied by firangs. [foreigners]. They cannot state it officially but do this by way of "dirty looks" and at times by saying "there is no empty table". I said this much to freemanx when we met in Mumbai and freemanx immediately agreed that he'd never want to go to such a place.

Personally, I will never ever enter Leopolds. Cafe Mondegar almost next door is quite good and equally warm towards all

Hey anil a weekly option is also good where theres a fixed time and place. Just like the E&A(explorers and adventurers ) meet (Every Wednesday(except Bank Holiday) between 6.30p.m and 8.00p.m at Milan Coffee House (upper level), near Flora Fountain, Nagindas Master Road (starting from Central Bank), Fort, Mumbai) .amyl the reason the other thread didnt happen is cuz anil and aadil wasent there to make it happen hehe

IF you are free on the 5th thursday and are in the lokhandwala area (andheri(west)) then drop in at cafe coffee day (ccd) after 7 pm there a mumbai meet up there .
