We are Singaporeans, my husband is offered a job in Pune. I'm interest to know more about the city-- 1. how much does a good house cost to rent 2. Good schools in Pune, my daughter will be starting kindergarten in Jan 08, how does teaching curriculum and fee compare to countries like Singapore and Australia. 3.Is Chinese food like tofu and organic foods easily accessible there. 4. Is it a child friendly city- are there things for a child of daughters age to do, meaning parks, kids library, museums etc.

Pune is a modern, vibrant city and is sometimes called the cultural capital of the Maharashtra state. The city also used to be called a 'pensioner's paradise' but a lot of that is changing now due to the fast growing IT and auto industries that dominate the city's economy.

Good houses can be bought for Rs3500-4500 per sq. ft. Renting them could be in the range of Rs25-30 per sq. ft. per month.

I am not sure if tofu is sold in groceries - but you'll surely have multiple south east asian eating out options.

Education standards are good - though I can't comment on specific schooling, you can make a judgement from the fact that Pune is home to some of India's top universities for graduation and post-graduation studies.

Activities for children are plenty - just like in any large city. Pus the outskirts of the city ptovide some good outdoor acytivity options.
