So is this more of a Question on how much money is enough for your per month stay in Pune (or you just wanted it to be an India spercific Question posted it in Pune section)?

I understand 600 Euros is your budget only for stay in India and it has nothing to do with the apartment you keeping in Europe.

Is that what you have to ask?

Thank u, Dhanivad, Maha Guru for your answer.

I guess you understood right. how can i explain ?!.. it is simple...for keeping my appartement in france ( for my futur husband and i, for holidays or case life will be less easy for us in India ) I will have this budget per month ( 600 euros ) and like you should presume my futur husband want to affort all charges of mariage ( normal i agree ..)with his salary .... so this budgat will be enought per month for me to live well in India or in worse case protect us from misery ?

i hope you understood what i meaned ...

god bless you

It is decent amount of money however it depends on the lifestyle you are used to. You would spend around 10000-15000 (175-250 eur) for your apartment. Again this wont be in the middle of city as those cost higher than this. If you want to go for semi-furnished apartment, cost will rise further.
All depends on how much you spend on your daily needs.

To be honest, I haven't had much of a social life at all. There really doesn't seem much to do, other than go for a few beers on a Friday evening with colleagues. I hear there are a few clubs around, but they seem a bit too meat-market-ish for my taste. I tend to occupy myself exploring the natural areas outside of the city.

Just curious - why KP? I had originally looked into KP/KN, but I found the apartments to be a but run-down and old. I ended up settling in Baner, but I do all of my shopping on that side of town - Dorabjee's, Ozone, etc.

Usually, we suggest to stay nearby your work area cause the public transport in Pune is not that good. KP is usually preferred by expats as many of them are already staying there. However, this is one of the expensive areas to stay.
If by social life you mean clubs, then you would find a few of them around KP and camp area. I am not much into it so would not be able to help much on this.

Hey there Pamier and everyone,

I'm heading your way in February. After studying Pune a little, I figure I wanna move into a KP apartment/house, run down or shabby as it may be, to be in a charming part of town. I'm looking for Charm. Where's the charm in Pune? Sometimes it's in a run down, unkempt locality.

I'm coming from Cairo, and while we have a serious lack of Charm here, there's also a special little part of town called Zamalek where you find locals and foreigners doing interesting things.

If this sort of place is not located in KP, my question is, what part of Pune is it?

Where's the Brooklyn/East village, the Wicker Park, the Soho, the Left Bank, the Haight Ashbery of Pune?

Is it Baner?

As for a social life, I always dread a big new move abroad because of the vacuum it creates in the social life. While I'm certainly not looking for clubs and "meat-marketish" places, I would like a good watering hole, beer garden, cafe, and social spot where one can strike up a conversation in hopes of finding the "cool kids".

I want to walk to a cafe, and home from a bar, to a pool and home from a market.

Where's that?

I'll work from home and I have a pretty good budget, so I'm very open to any part of town.

The nature discovery sounds fascinating too. Hiking sounds pleasant. And the spiritual side of life in India, I can tell, will be just as fascinating and something I study and get into.

Can you show me your list of sites to see, Pamier

In the end, I'm excited to move in India. Even though there is so much happening in Cairo right now, I imagine there is still more happening in India.

Ciao, y'all.

With regards to offers to hook up with people straightaway, kindly take note also of this site's standing cautionary thread: Women/Men looking for travel partners.

Has the Pune Meetups thread been mentioned here yet? I don't think that's very active, but one can always try and make it so.

Kalyani Nagar and Koregaon Park are both very good options for you where you can find all the above things and you being open to costly places will be useful to find a suitable apartment/flat in these areas.

Also, I am a bit afraid that as foreign single woman it might be hard to find a landlord/landlady/society that wants to rent to me. Are these fears justified or not? And if so, any tips on how to cricumvent this obstacle?

And finally, I am not sure whether I'd want to rent something I haven't seen with my own eyes, and I am thus looking for a place where I can stay the first two weeks upon my arrival. Any tips for a pleasant B&B, guesthouse, homestay in Pune-West?

Thanks.

I would suggest you to go for Korean hostel in Aundh. As it gives you seperate room for a month and doesn't charges much.It will cost you Rs 7000 for a month. Also the Hostel mates are mostly foreigners.
So you can live there without any fear.
Also Aundh locality is very safe and peaceful.
