Living alone in Pune - good, bad or ...?

Hi Guys,
How is Pune? I've got an opportunity to go there for 12-24 months, but very unsure how it will be. Is there anything to do in there? Sports? Nightlife? Anything?

I would be living there alone. Just below 30 years old guy. I've got plenty of experience in living in Asia... but in bigger - and cleaner - cities before.

All comments are much appreciated!

Thanks!!

I've been living in Pune for just over two years now. I enjoy it on the whole. The climate is pleasant, with only a few weeks of high temperature in the summer. There are hills and lakes nearby, so it's quite scenic too. I'm afraid I'm not a good person to ask about nightlife though - my daughter keeps me away from all of that! Pune isn't that small, so there ought to be plenty to keep you entertained.

Pune is a great city. It used to be the getaway place for Mumbay-ites, because it is is situated in the hills. That is a draw back in the sense that the smog is not blown away by winds because it is in a valley. But in terms of people, of culture and education, it is a very interesting place. It is a major place of learning, with lots of foreign students there. Also a major place for Ayurveda, if not the best in India.
