I am moving to Pune
Hi!
This is Marķa Ovelar, from Madrid (Spain). I will be living in Paud (Pune) for nine months. Iam arriving there on Monday the 10th of August. I will be teaching at United World College of Mahindra. I was planning to get a second hand bicycle so that I can go to Pune from Paud. Somebody knows where I can buy a good one? Any suggestions? Also, I am 27 years old, I love cats, pop and rock music (The Smiths, New Order, leonard Cohen, REM, The Beach Boys, Franz Ferdinand, etcetera). Any good pubs/clubs in Pune? Thank you all in advance, marķa |

Welcome to Pune. I am sure you will not reuire a used bike on Day 1. Though its been ages I bought a bicycle I am pretty sure you can get a new one at a resonalble cost. Else try visiting Cycle repair shops in Pune city. They might have some references.
Lots of clubs in Koregaon park, Camp, Kalyani nagar etc you could select with recomendations from your companions for the visit. Dont miss the natural beauty around pune - you are at a good time when the monsoon is getting over and its green all around. |

As new_traveller suggested, it would be a good idea to buy a new one which would not cost much. You can find the bikes of Indian brands in Budhavar peth area near Shanivar vada.
Also, I think, you can search for second hand bikes as well. And, if you want to go for other brands, there are some shops in other areas of Pune. You can find some good information here.. http://www.bikeszone.com/forum/ |

I hope you have settled down well - there are some good clubs here which will play stuff (not sure about The Smiths or New Order) such as Apache, Toonz, Thousand Oaks, Zaras etc. There are a lot of good clubs here in Pune and am sure you will like it.
I absolutely love Spain - went there as a kid and hope to go there some day again!

Hi Maria,
That would be far to do with bicycle. Any small motorized bike (scooter) will do fine. Indian roads are not too cycle friendly & I wouldn't advice you to try Paud to Pune on bicycle. For your in-campus touring, a bicycle will be great. Pune is vastly different from Madrid & I'm sure you'll enjoy it here. |
