Cool Hey Pune, what's the crack?

Hello Pune! i'm applying for a job with WNS/AGS to start in the next 2 months on a 12-24 month contract, i'm 27 and still very into going out having a drink and a dance, meeting new people and generally having a laugh on weekends/weeknights. So looking to see who's out there at the moment and try to get some idea about what kind of things people in their mid 20's get up to in their spare time?
I worked in Noida/Dehli for a few months a year ago and it was really cool, i've been told in Pune bars/clubs tend to close at 11 tho, is that true?
I'm also very into sport and looking to do the horrid gym thing and join any sports teams going, cricket football, american football, baseball, baasketball, rugby WHATEVER!!
Anyways, any advice etc would be great and i'll hopefully be seeing you all soon!

Hi there,

Moving to Pune at the start of March with work for a few months. How are you finding it over there? Are there any places that you've come across to socialise and meet others?

I live and work at Pune, with my family. My residence is near the Chaturshringhi Temple ...or rather the International Convention Center complex on SB Road.

Hey, I also got a job offer and am planning to move to pune. They said the salary will be 500-600k INR per year without tax deduction, can anybody give me any clues about the tax deduction(what percent approxiamately) and what life will be like when I move there with that salary(I know India is a cheap place but cheap is a relative term, what is cheap in USA or Sweden can be expensive in other places) so if you could approximately give some idea abourt the rents, cost of living and social life in Pune for a single man, that would be great. I also practice Aikido and iaido, but I guess I can't find any dojo practicing there. Anyway, thanks for help.

hubirai,

For a rough estimate about taxes & all, take around 35% off for calculating you net income. About how cheap or not, that again as you mentioned is a relative term. If the salary is good or not, it depends on what you do, how much experience, skill set, etc.

We also just moved to Pune this week. Liking the city so far. Still searching for some apartment to rent & friends to socialize.... :-)
