Mussoorie Info
Hi Everyone,
I am new to the listing but I think I will be staying as I am learning so much more. I am a Canadian who married another Canadian, whoo happens to be half Indian. We actually got married in Delhi and then toured the South for 3 months. A few years after that we returned to live in Benares (6mo) with our two year old. Now we are hoping to move to Mussoorie (2 yr) with our 12 and 8 year old. I am wondering about Mussoorie. I know this sounds silly but you other parents might understand, is it possible to buy peanut butter in Mussoorie and can you get the natural stuff. What about out North American foods? Is the weather as awful as it looks? How is the road to Dehra Dun...really? Any info would be great. Thanks Maija |

Mussorie is a great place and I am sure your kids will also enjoy. Not sure abt peanut butter but they have some boarding schools where lot of foreigners study ! So you might want to chk there abt food etc. For some reason I can't remember the name of the school but you can easily find out once you are there.
Road from Dehradun to Mussorie is good although remember that its a hilly area and roads are little narrow. If you haven't driven before in hills, I would suggest hiring a driver. Not sure what you mean by NA food...you do get cheese, bread, burgers etc.. Tip: Do travel frm Mussori to nearby areas..there is a small village called Dhanaulti..awsome place...its so serene out there...they have a old british time rest house there.. |

You can get all & everything(almost)in Mussoorie, N.A food is not a problem, there are some great places nearby Mussoorie too, which can be comapred equally to any European hill station, of course dont expect the infrastructure to be of that standard.
Road from Dehradun to Mussooire(31kms) is excellent, narrow & winding with awesome views of Doon valley, best is to enjoy the views by halting at times. Holiday seasons starts from May-Aug & thats when people from all over start coming over & that spoils the tranquality of the place but helps the local economy. Mussoorie is also home to some world class schools like woodstock etc. Dont miss to visit the Buddhist university on the way Mussoorie from Dehradun, simply amazing.. Hope ti helps. |
