Moving to India, possible locations
So we went back last February to scout out Bangalore as a potential job relocation. City is nice but the traffic and pollution SUCKS. Decided it really wasn't conducive to the simpler, less hectic lifestyle we desire.
According to plan, we've produced a tiny one to take with us. Thinking it would be more comfortable to have a child here than to seek out proper prenatal care in India. Understandably priorities have changed dramatically and left us torn on which direction to take. A. Stay in the US, good health care, busy and somewhat monotonous lifestyle. B. Dump everything and move to India. Option B would certainly give us more quality time as a new family. We'd like to find a quality location to go with it. How is Goa? My desi friends all tell me we have to check it out. Good health care is a major priority. Is Goa unbearably hot in the summer? What is year round living like there?? Anybody currently doing the expat thing in Goa? Edit note: moved to 'Moving to India' section, rab

I can't recommend Chennai, because it is bloody hot mist of the year!
I've heard good things about Mysore, but never been there... I would expect that Goa offers the choice: either to join an expat community or to join a local community.

one word: GOA! I just found it to be such a charming little place.
I was there off-season, though...so my perception of it may be skewed. It was very quiet (that's what I loved about it)...luckily I didn't find anything of the hippy culture, weird tourists (mostly foreigners) and wild night-life that I thought I'll find. Was there in summer...and it was hot, indeed, but not unbearably..no. Depends on your standards, though. Panjim is charming...and it seems that you can find flats for sale starting at 10 lakhs.. |

I was there in summer last year and it was very pleasant because of the monsoons but there were days where it didnt rain. Way better than the unbearable summer heat of Delhi!
