Chennai / Bangalore / Kerala???

------------------------------------------------------------------------
So this is the deal - I wanted to come to India because I study yoga and ayurveda. I've been looking for work and have three offers : one in Bangalore, one in Kerlal and one in Chennai. The Bangalore one is ok money and the job seems like it would be pretty interesting but I'm worried from what everyone is saying that it is not the most inspiring place in the world . The one in Chennai (which I haven't definately got yet) is ridiculous money and perks but I know nothing about the place. Kerala really appeals but it doesn't start for a while and won't pay too well.

Help - any advice on the three locations ( social scene, people, pollution, general vibe, cost, annoyances, yoga and ayurveda tips) would be awesome. This forum rock by the way and you are all superstars

nice choices

Bangalore is generally considered the easiest place for expats, mainly because of the great weather and easygoing ambience. Another plus, IMHO, is that most of S India is an overnight train away, making it an ideal base to check out the region. Chennai is just so dang hot, it's amazing. Kerala has a great seaface and mtns, but still, Hothothot

Yoga

Hi there,

I am also looking to study yoga, but have only experienced western yoga. Can you explain to me what the differant yoga types are and benefits? As I am involved with a lot of running I would be intersted in Yoga that helps to build strength / felxibility / develop your core and of course also helps you to relax and stretch.

Which school of yoga would you advise is best for this?

Also, in your view is chavutti massage a good technique for people who are into sport?

Thanks for your help!

Bangalore, Chennai and Kerala - three really different places.... in Bangalore you will definitely need more money than in Kerala..... It is beautiful here, but the society is not so easy for westerners, for example is Trivandrum dead after 8 p.m...... And before it is just a biiig village with a lot of crazy traffic....Where is the place in Kerala? Ernakulam? Cochin is a little bit different....But even bigger and more like a big city

Nature is beautiful here in Kerala, people are friendly, but they are keeping distance.... It is good for a learning experience, much more "indian" than Bangalore or Chennai....and famous for Ayurveda.

The climate in the summer is best in Bangalore, Chennai and Kerala are really hot and humid... Bangalore is also the best place for going out, but it looks almost like a western city in the centre.... And Chennai is just big..... with cinemas with english movies etc.

Good luck for the right choice....

I simply mean it is not so easy to make local friends here as a foreigner. Friends for weekend activities etc.
