Smile Anyone in Kanpur?

Hello everyone,
After having worked for a year in India in '97 in HP, I've finally got the opportunity to go back and work for a substantial period (not just long holidays between work). So, I'm headed to Kanpur, I know it's not the most frequented place due to its lack of tourist attractions etc but that's where I'm going. If any of you are based out there or know the town well I'd love to hear from you.
Your stories, advice, hints/tips etc esp for accomodation and getting to and from. Please don't hesitate to contact me.
Thanks in advance.

Namaste Vibhu,
I'm actually going to work for a french company, starting in mid december until September time. I don't know which part of the city I'll be working in, but if you have any advice about the areas which are nice to live in with easy access to the city and perhaps give me an idea of prices for fully furnished flats that would be wonderful.
Anyone else with information, please let me know!
Thanks

look prices of flats arent high.in my building a 3 BHK flat was on rental of Rs. 12000 / Month ( approx USD 200/ Month or some GBP 140/month) but as to getting a fully furnished flat ...that might be difficult...I will be in Kanpur from 19 October to 28 October...if you are there at that time i might be able to help you out..
anyway whats ur budget ....?
Tilak Nagar, Arya Nagar, Civil Lines, Swaroop Nagar are the right places to live in Kanpur as they are near to commercial hub of city and also the prime residential area of city.

Its indeed a difficult city for a foreigner to live in...but lets hope its pleasent for u.

Remember climate wise Kanpur has prety defined and harsh climates. In winters ( from Late November to Early Feb) it would be ver cold sometimes even 2-3 degree celcius..while in summers from Late April to July it will be very hot and dry ( 40-45 degree celsius is common).

Public Transportation is not efficient so you might face some problem. if you can tell me as to location of your office ...i may be able to suggest you exact location where u shud stay...

dont hesitate to ask me any question u have?
