Do you like to do things like proof-reading or better, train somebody in proofreading? If you are serious, please PM me.

To be fair to the OP, I read, in this instance, 'white' to mean non-Indian, not NRI, etc....
Which would be a fair-enough, non-racist distinction for a guy looking for a job in India. But it is less fun to comment on ![]() |

I think you make fun of people really easily here...I understood as Nick-H says above, that guy actually mentioned "white American" to underline he had no indian origin. Well, maybe it is because I am of Indian origin and live in a country of white people basically but with many different "ethnic groups" that I automatically understood things this way...
Well, I saw this post by chance actually, as I am planning to study hindi in Mumbai for 2 years, and if possible to get and part time job. Though I am of Indian origin my problem is nearly the same as Shamrocked. I just have a 2years degree (--which doesn't exist anymore since a reform, here the 3 years BA is the minimum level at university now--) of English and Spanish. I have had 3 (short term) professional experiences (same activity) in services requiring the practice of these languages. I even used a bit of Chinese and Hindi, if no choice though I am not as good as for the two mentioned above.I have no degree for Teaching French, but I know I can be a good teacher as I gave private lessons (of English and Spanish), I like teaching, and French is my mother tongue. But, in French Alliances, they hire people who have degrees and pay a miserable wage (whereas they get hyper big budgets, organize receptions, etc!). And I was told that to work in translation "field" I should have a certificate or a degree...that was not verified actually... So what job could I do as my skills are only languages? It is getting even more complicated as I'd like to work part time only so that I could study and get a degree of Hindi... hmmm complicated... |
