hi eden, although i am by no means an expert, the school hours seem to vary quite a bit from school to school. Also the school holiday timing etcs vary between international/local schools. My 7 year old has just started at a local private school and her hours are 1pm - 6pm Mon-Wed, Fri-Sat (ie Thurs, Sun off). However, there are children in our society building who have school hours at a range of different times. Some go 9am-3pm, others 8am - 1pm (tends to be the kids aged 10+). As you see, it all seems very school specific. Also childcare can be quite difficult to arrange. Sorry if I have added to your confusion rather than providing clarity, but you'd probably be better off contacting specific schools to find out.
