I am aware this topic has been in discussion earlier, however i would need you valuable inputs, suggestion and feedback. I have been offered a Job in Mumbai with CTC 8.5 lakhs. I am planning to relocate from Gulf along with my Wife and 1 Year old son. I would like to know whether this package that has been offered to me is sufficient to have a decent life in or around Vashi.
Thanks,
Vinod

Sufficient to have a decent life? - We don't know what is decent by your definition or what sort of life you are used to?
Thank you Narendra and sorry for not being specific. By decent I meant a flat for rent in a good locality, grocery and misc expenses monthly. Also what will be the approx take home for the CTC offered.?
If that's per year it will be pretty tight, especially if you have a family. If it's per month, then you'll have a great life.
It'll really come down to what standard of living you are used to. India is rough, so you generally would expect a higher income to offset the lack of infrastructure/services you might take for granted elsewhere.

In Mumbai, rents are a huge part of monthly costs. Again, you need to be more specific. 1 Bedroom/2 bedroom/size in Sft/budget that you can spend/other amenities you need/how far from work/train station/market etc.
There are plenty of people who manage on much less and many who feel this amount is less.
An 8.5 CTC would mean a take home after tax of around 50K or less, which is not much if you have to pay rent out of it. Also whether 8.5 is in line with current market rates for a guy of your profile? Figure that out first, then if it is in line, then you can hopefully manage in what you are getting.

Many thanks Holyrain.
Narendra, appreciate the time and effort taken in responding to me in detail. I work as a Service Desk Manager. The position that has been offered is of Assistant Manager Service Delivery ad they have advised me that the max they could stretch is upto 9 Lakhs and pick & drop from home. Apparently there is an unrest and tension going on due to the Arab Spring that started in Egypt due to which life has come to a standstill. Being with my family my priority is to leave at the earliest before the situation deteriorates.
We live a very moderate life here nothing sort of high standards. Hope I could cater to my family and sed with the pay that I would take home. I am yet to get the offer letter with the breakup. What do you reckon that I should be watchful of on the salary breakup?

In the given package you live gracefully and may rent an apartment close to your work place to save on commuting time and cost. You have not mentioned the location of your work place but may visit www.flatswithoutbroker.com for direct deal with owners and thus save brokerage. Hope it will work for you with several choices.
Hi Nitunavalrungta, Many thanks for your response. My office location is in Malad and they have offerred a pick and drop to and from Vashi.
