Well Hotstepper...for sure job prospects will be far better in Bombay as compared to Goa, but mind you accomodation is and will be much more expensive also one has to check its aviability. I suggest you check on these things before you think of shifting.. I personally feel Goa life is more relaxed and slower in pace as compared to Mumbai. The final take is yours !

well well well..mumbai is the cosmopolitan city of India..
employement opputunites would be higher that Goa, but so would be the competetion.. And please do not compare cost of living in Mumbai to any other city..its the most expensive city in India to live in..only Delhi comes close.. |

I agree with u that goa has a relaxed slower paced lifestyle but i am finding it a little boring... I know i have come at the monsoon peried which is probably why. Would mumbai be slow because of the monsoon? Also i presume jobs in mumbai would have to pay foreigners indian wages? Or is this not true?

Hotstepper... Mumbai is i guess never SLOW..
Wages is subjecte to your qualifications and industry, mostly to the best of my knowledge there is parity in pay between local hire and foreign hire but many places foreign hire do get a better deal..it is a question of demand n supply ! Amar |

Hotstepper, Its a better idea to come and visit mumbai and stay with a friend for some days. stay there, look out for a job, see if you can manage the pace of the city and the costs and then decide.
Its not as bad and people who come here do learn how to cope. But there are going to be certain teeting troubles which you need to take care and adapt to. without doubt mumbai will have more opportunities than goa in almost all lines of career.

I found it pretty hard to find a job in Mumbai, in the end I just went to Chennai and got one! It can be quite expensive to live there in terms of renting a flat, but other costs (transport for instance) are much cheaper than elsewhere, I spent 5 months in north Mumbai (Andheri) and didnt find it too bad.
Also I assume you are a foreigner, and it doesnt sound like you have a work visa (if you did you wouldnt be able to move around or change your job), so you wont be able to get a job unless you are lucky enough to find some 'under the table' work. |
