Moving to Mumbai near Kurla

Hi Friends,

I am going to move to Mumbai with my wife and 2 children going in class 6 and KG. The only thing that is finalized so far is that office might be near Kurla or Andheri. Now I need to look for a house(or flat rather) and schooling. I am originally from Delhi but have been abroad for last 10 years so don't know much about Mumbai and need help from you guys. I would like to know what is a good area (south Delhi equivalent) near my proposed office and which are top 5 schools (Indian system CBSE or ICSE) near this area. I know that traffic in Mumbai can be killing and I am not used to traveling more than 20 minutes for office. I am looking for a 3 BR aptt. around 1,300 sq. feet and would be willing to pay around Rs. 60 k rent. How much would be the cost of a flat in a decent apartment. Can you please provide names of 4 or 5 decent apartments near this area where I can focus my search. Thank you very much for your help.

Thank you very much to everyone for their comments and inputs. Very useful indeed. My plan is to move in July. I might be coming over for a week to finalize school and house before that. I would be very interested to know email ids and phone nos. of some people who have school going children of similar age to talk to them personally about the schools. As regards the flat, again I would request if possible, names of apartments where I should look for. I know you have already provided names of areas but if you can also provide for names of apartments then that would be great. I am looking for apartments with Swimming Pool, Gym etc. facilities which are a newer construction. Then I can focus my search on those apartments and search online through websites you recommended. Once again, thank you very much for your useful inputs and time. I am really grateful to all of you.

How to get into schools

Hi again,

Now it is getting clearer as far as office location is concerned. It is going to be in Andheri Kurla area. But I am astonished talking to schools. They say admissions are closed?? How do we put our children into good schools there?? It seems frustrating. Can someone advice please what is the best way to get admission into good schools in Mumbai. Well, I have never compromised on quality of education and have provided best in class education to my children. I want them to study in Indian system (ICSE or CBSE). Can someone advice please. Thanks in advance for your help guys.
