Looking for room in Mumbai for a month, starting... Now!
Hello all, this is my first post here, after the introductory post of course (and a presumptive post to the Delhi forum)!
I see there are many "New to Delhi, err Mumbai: where should I go?" posts here, so... naturally, here is mine! Would like some current advice on where to stay while in Mumbai for about a month. Advice on regions, or specific residences, or hotels, or anything in-between is appreciated! My first day here has been intersting, on the advice of some of you here, I put myself in the YWCA until I find a more suitable lodging. I'm not a backpacker and I don't know the regions or sectors or really anything, so any recommendations would be helpful! Can spend up to 15000-20000/mo. and I'm not picky as to whether it is a hotel, apartment, house, guest house, etc. Have looked into Craigslist Mumbai but most rentals seem to mention specific regions, and I have no idea the flavour or if they'd suit or not. Some things I appreciate in a residence; * furnished (tourist afterall!) * relatively safe (but not overdoing it where I feel like I'm in prison) * lots of plants nearby is nice (i.e. not on a big barren dirt lot) * doesn't have to be new to be nice (i.e. manicured plants amongst concrete walls is not very interesting!) * quiet but not isolated (I like to socialize but also need "me / alone" time...) * within walking distance of various shops * and of course, quality internet (preferably unlimited, have laptop & video chat camera) Looking for a clean healthy living space where I can open my mind and invite new things into it. Hopefully that's not too tall an order; any of you with experience care to point me in a good direction?!? ![]() More about me: hetero male, very early 30s, have been described as 'down to earth', I try to keep abreast of world events, and I do enjoy good food & progressive conversation.
