In search of Good Earth tea in Mumbai
Well I am now officially down to my last imported "necessity" and it is an odd one, I admit. I am generally not one for herbal teas, but I am addicted to Good Earth's original sweet and spicy blend. Now I have not seen it anywhere in India, which is incredibly odd considering GE is owned by Tata, of all companies! I am wondering if anyone else is familiar GE and/or knows of any shop in Mumbai that stocks it? If not, is there by any chance an Indian tea that is even slightly similar?
Much obliged ![]() |

The Good Earth store itself doesn't stock it? Then it must be an export item, and could be hard to get. Have you tried asking at Good Earth, or e-mailing, maybe you could get through to the people exporting it, and buy it from them.

different Good Earth!
Wow, I didn't expect there to be another, completely different, Good Earth brand in India!! Hemmie, if you are referring to the home items store in India Good Earth then unfortunately we are talking about two different things! I am looking for Good Earth tea, which is a US brand but owned by the Tatas (see my thread starter for the company link). As far as I can tell, the two Good Earths have no connection to each other.
Thanks for the heads up though! |

If you can't find it Costaguana, you can always make your own herbal teas. There is no shortage of readily available fresh spices in India and we are known for our "masala" teas!

It's an interesting thought, I am just not sure I would get the proportions right ;-)

Couldn't you try asking someone in the USA to send it to you by mail? In past I have sent gift items by parcel post from the USA and most of the time they made it intact to my family in India. You could check if Global Priority mail allows tea bags inside its 'pack-all-you-can' envelops. Postage is about $5/$10 (small/big) and I think about 100 tea bags can fit in easily with declared value of around $10 or so. It should reach you within a week.
Recently I bought some himalayan herbal teas at Rishikesh and they are quite good. Any speciality tea store in Mumbai should be able to guide you towards good alternatives if you prefer to try some new brands now. |
