How do people look for a job in India?
Hi, I am a 27 years old female moving in Mumbai to join my fiance who is already working here. I am looking for a job in Mumbai
I had been already for 6 months in Mumbai at IITB (Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay), working on my Master's Thesis.I have 2 engineering degrees(Telecommunications and IT) and MBA degree. What is the best way to look for a job? If I check companies web-pages, they mostly want people with 5-10 years of experience. Should I get a headhunter? We contacted one, but he is not very fast in his work (typical for India). I noticed, that there are some people who got a job in Mumbai from abroad. How did u find the position? Does anybody can suggest the ways how one can loook for a job in Mumbai? I am new in this Thank you in advance! |

Check out the main websites - Naukri, Mister (India).
Just give a google search for india jobs should give some useful websites. Specifying your preferences might even get you real Job Openings. All places and actions are as slow (or fast) as we make it. |

I was checking those web pages already. But there are not much of good positions there, especially managerial positions or consultancy.
I am asking my question because I do not know what the job hunting methods in India are. I know how it works in Europe but not in India There are a lot of expatriates in the forum, so I though somebody can give an advise regarding job hunting in Mumbai. I visited few web pages of the big companies like Reliance and Tata. But they either looking for 5-10 years experienced professionals or just suggest sending them your CV to the common mail. But I can imagine that they get millions of CVs per day and I afraid miens will be lost in the bunch of other CVs. I also assume that there should be positions when they need people with foreign knowledge skills, MBA+engineering degree and European experience. How do I look for those positions? I have too many questions, just dunno how to develop my job-hunting strategy ![]() |

Mostly its a coefficient of the level of entry that you are looking at - I have found that networks help a lot.Try creating a profile on linkedin and putting up a post. In other cases its also about reaching the right person within an organisation so what you may want to do is to identify the people who head the departments you are interested in or specific HR people who are in charge of hiring ( usually the receptionist would be able to give it to you if you just ask for the mail id )and then start the correspondence.
One way of short circuting the process is to check out company specific openings and then get in touch with their HR directly instead of waiting for the consultant- usually that helps get your CV more attention. I work with a Telco - mail me your CV and I shall forward it across to HR - if that helps. |

post it on monsterindia.com / naukri.com , interested HRs will start calling you. All companies have their own search criteria.
You can keep an eye on the newspapers which generally carry a supplement on Wednesday with lots of Jobs. You will get lots of calls once you put your CV online. |

I am a headhunter and would suggest you find the companies you really want to work for and then find out who runs the area you would work in. Get his/her e mail/number and contact them directly. Most of this should be on the websites, if not then call switchboard. Good Luck!!

Register at www.naukri.com and on www.monster.com
There are several other websites, but these are most popular....
